Did you play basketball? My apartment was right by the courts with our side window looking into the big field...which is basically in my backyard now.
No. I didn't play very much basketball at the apartment. We would play some football in that big field in front of the apartments though.

Callandros, IMO
I used to shop there regularly from the time they opened that location on Siegen & Perkins, but they really began declining in both their selection & quality - even meat - which was shocking since that's what they're known for, & their wine, so I just stopped shopping there for quite a while. They've since improved, but seriously, their steaks are still not what they once were, & the prices shot up. I don't mind paying for good quality & size, but I'm not going to continue shopping at an establishment that reduces size & quality, but raises prices, which is what so many grocery stores have done with their meat, fish, produce, & specialty prepared foods.

I love Calandro's for meat and nicer items. But Winn Dixie is really nice now and a hell of a lot cheaper for non-specialty general groceries.
I agree.

Also, a completely refurbished Winn Dixie on Siegen, which is the best out of all of these specific stores in the Perkins/Bluebonnet/Essen/Siegen area.
SMH,
Calandro's & Mathernes (Kenilworth) > Fresh Market > Matherne's Bluebonnet > Albertson's Bluebonnet and Essen > Winn Dixie
This area is saturated with "traditional grocery stores" and Winn Dixie is without a doubt the worst in the area.

I think you will be pleased. Completely different with a good deli, cheeses, olive bar. And it's shiny new and clean. With my gas perks and low gas prices I filled up the truck for $16 bucks a month ago.

I usually buy the same groceries every week. So I will bring my Wal-Mart receipt with me and compare the prices

I know you are trolling. Their selection is shite and you have obviously not been to Winn-Dixie since the remodel.

Not anymore, at least not since they re-vamped many WDs over the past couple of years. He chain had gotten inconsistent from store to store several years ago, & the prices had risen while selection got thinner. However, it has really been much improved, somewhat back to what it originally was many years ago. I am extremely particular about the meat I purchase & from where, and had gotten so that I wouldn't purchase it from WD, but over the past couple of years, the quality of meat has improved greatly at WD; however, Calandro's, where I normally did all of my meat shopping, had declined quite a bit. So, it's generally a cyclical thing with grocery stores as far as quality & selection of products, which is why it is important to have enough traditional grocery stores - generally when one begins to suck in a particular category, you have to go to another for that specific item. Usually, I have to go to 3 different grocery stores for the selection & quality of the products I buy bc one usually doesn't have it all or the best quality of everything I need. And as far as being overpriced, Albertson's is by far the worst of the traditional grocery stores, plus, their meat is not up to par, ever, imo. Honestly, when I purchase meat, depending on the type, I go to different stores since not one has the same quality on every specific type. For instance, I will make a special trip to Carter's in Denham for pork loin roast or center cut pork loin chops, and go to WD for prime stew meat, & Calandro's for Angus NY Strip, but I won't even buy chicken or ground beef at Walmart or Target. ... The point is that the superstores, mainly, but to some degree, the specialty markets, have really contributed to the diminishing traditional grocery stores, and although they've made a bit of a comeback the past several years, there still either aren't enough or none of them maintain consistency in quality and selection/variety to keep grocery shoppers from having to drive all over the city just to purchase their normal items. We just need more of them with consistent quality & selection of products.

Whatever. Matherne's has a better butcher, better deli, much better wine/liquor dept and cashiers who actually seem to enjoy there job. Not to mention they open another register any time a line gets longer then 2-3 people. I would put Calandro's above them but I stand by my rankings. Albertsons and Fresh market are all better than Winn Dixie.
For "general non-specialty groceries" Amazon subscription is the tits.

shite.. That's like the only place I go. They have good meat deals a lot of the time. Winn Dixie card brings prices down to normal levels then you get fuel rewards too. Plus the one at Burbank/Lee always has hot college girls and minimal trash shopping there.

I'm pretty good with random movie quotes.
I text my brother quotes all the time to see if he texts back the next line.... Kind of our way of staying in touch

My brother and I do the same thing.
I used 2 movie quotes today at work
"Day ain't over yet"
and
"Get busy living or get busy dying"

EBR SWWTP does have odor control. Perhaps not online just yet. CWWTP smells terrible but that one is getting shut down ASAP.
