This is pretty sickening...I know one of the kids, shes a ULL athlete who spent Mardi Gras at my house.

She was out celebrating her last night of freshman year before flying out tomm...now in surgery (non life threatening) to remove the bullet. wouldnt be surprised if her family pulls her out of school.

Driveby shooting downtown injures 2

ETA- This was at the Marleys / Legends area...WTF is wrong with people!

Not shocking. After midnight or so, lots of misguided youth like to loiter outside of those bars and stare at each other and potential victims.

Nothing good happens after midnight, even in Laffy

The difference is they have a Mayor, DA and Police chief who give a shite and blame the criminals, not guns and white pipo

Isn’t that what they do at Tigerland after midnight?

Stand around, stare, loiter, waiting to cause trouble, before returning to their ghettos.

Yea they have let the culture ruin downtown, shame.

Poor strip is now gone as well, RIP.

Downtown was shithole for years. Much better now. The proximity of downtown (and the strip back when) to some of the worst portions of Lafayette has always been a recipe for trouble. Though not on the level of troubles in BR and NOLA.

Times are changing….Other than the frequent bar fight, shootings were unheard of in that area 25 ago. It’s frightening to think of these drunk arse young girls getting preyed upon like this.

I don't think I've been to Lafayette since the 90s but we did used to have a lot of fun there.
