A friend of ours moved out to Vegas and started ‘no shoes inside’ because of the dust being tracked in, but I found that when I went outside, I would just stay barefoot instead of sliding my sandals on, so it probably defeated the purpose

I am always barefoot, inside, outside, on the beach today. Having to wear heels to work is tedious. Apparently shoes and shirts are "appropriate" even in gas stations.

I had a friend a long time ago who was a sanctimonious shoes off person, would actually scold you for being disgusting if you didn't remember to take off shoes upon entering her home. Yet she had three dogs, and the small one peed and pooped everywhere consistently. Sometimes AS she was saying she didn't want gross germs everywhere.

Do what you want in your home, (and I would respect your request if I visit) but I bet the shoes off people have a false sense of security about the cleanliness of their homes. One of the news programs some years back did an expose on germs in the home. If I recall the three with the most fecal matter on them (wasn't the floor). 1) the bottom of ladies' purses. 2) the iphone 3) the toothbrushes- from being close to a flushing toilet

You aren't getting sick because of viruses on your shoes inside the house. You are getting sick from door handles, escalator railings, grocery cart handles and all the other surfaces you touch on an every day basis. Not to mention the unsanitary habits of the general public you share public spaces with.

Shoes off. Wife keeps it clean enough to do surgery in here.

She isnt insane though. When we have people over and everyone is in and out she doesnt care. Next day me and the boys have to leave the house though, lest we be put to work.

Absolutely shoes off, and just outside the door. Step into house into dedicated house slippers/flip-flops.

Then the first thing we do upon entering the house is go to lavatory and wash hands.

So you stand barefoot in front of a toilet in someone's home?

I do, but not for the reasons stated in these posts.

I always know where my shoes are.

No shoes in the house year round.

I have carpet and hardwood.

I do wear shoes in the basement because when I had the house built I didn't get the floor finished. Wish I had. Way too much stuff to move now to do it.

Wasn't a thing for me until I moved to Hawaii, but now I feel strange wearing shoes inside of a house. Bottoms of shoes are nasty.

When we get home we remove our shoes. I wear flip flops around the house while Mrs. Vader wears ladies house shoes.

I take them off soon after I get home, but not because of germs. I just prefer being barefoot. I haven’t had so much as a cold in 3 years, and I have grandkids in daycare. I do keep hand sanitizer in my car and use it after going to a store, pumping gas etc. but my immune system has served me well.

We keep shoes on in the house but not on the furniture. I go in and out my house too many times in a day to worry about shoes on/off. We have mats at all the doors and use them. How do you shoes off people do things like making multiple trips to carry in groceries? Grab a quick water or take a pee break while doing yardwork? Deal with kids running in and out the house?

I prefer to remove my shoes in the house because I like walking around in socks, bare feet or slippers.
