Shoes around the house is disgusting if you think about it. How many public restrooms do you walk into, public parking lots, public areas of all kinds? Nobody wants that bacteria and dirt all over their own house.

Yet everyone feels free to put their kids and their grimy fricking shoes inside the bottom of a shopping cart without worry.

I remember the first friend I had as a kid whose family didn’t wear shoes in the house. His dad was a proctologist. They had huge German Shepherds living in the house. Inside the house. We did not have house pets in my family. Our dogs were outside working dogs, hunting dogs, etc. They slept in a kennel/doghouse.

(For the record, I don’t believe that anymore and my dogs sleep with me.)

By God you will take take your shoes off but our filthy, stinking GSDs are welcome to lay on the sofa licking their asses and shedding hair and dander and fleas and dirt and dog shite and God knows what else.

If a person isn’t cognizant of how filthy allowing shoes inside their home is, I’m not sure I can trust that the food they cooked for me was cooked in a clean and sanitary environment

Our hands are probably worse in reality. We pick up a bacteria-infested cellphone all day long, pick up office/work phones constantly, grab nasty steering wheels, touch doorknobs that countless filthy hands have touched, shakes hands with people with fecal matter on their hands from the .02 cent toilet paper they just tore through two seconds prior to greeting us while wiping their asses at the office and other places, etc.

Yes, we can all wash our hands throughout the day and kill the germs/bacteria. But then we are on our cell phones again 2.5 seconds after washing our hands and our cell phones have 10x more bacteria than a toilet seat.

Now, I'd still take my chances of pressing my face against my cell phone that has been sitting in my dirty, warm pocket throughout the day over pressing it against the ghosts of 10,000 asses on a toilet seat, but our hands still provide a higher immediate risk of sickness than our shoes due to their proximity to our face and mouth.

On. We rarely get sick so it hasn't hurt us.

I hate wearing shoes, so mostly shoes off.

Then I lived around my biological mom for 3 years. She's full Korean. Shoes off in the house is a culture thing for several different Asian cultures.

Guests id prefer to keep their shoes on. I dont care though actually. If u wanna take ur shoes off, take em off. Mi casa su casa.

All my floors are hardwood. If i had carpet id say shoes off a must.

Also i think we factor in number of guests.

If there's 5 guests or less shoes all most likely off

I want to implement this in my new house. My youngest daughter initially introduced me to this idea.

For guests, what do you tell them? Do you provide a slip on shoe cover? Or ask them to walk around barefooted if they didn't wear socks?

Tell them to take their fricking shoes off. I can’t believe there’s so many nasty motherfrickers in here walking around with shoes on in their house.

My wife is Asian so it’s an expectation not a rule, immediately when you open the door

We have too many friends/family and are constantly going in and out of the house to worry about taking shoes off. It was weird growing up going to someone’s house who required you to take their shoes off, and it’s still weird going to someone’s house who asks. The only house I can think of is my sister-in-law, and she’s borderline crazy.

We mop often, so it doesn’t bother us.

Shoes off. Although my wife has inside only sneakers for working out.
Mostly hardwood throughout except bedrooms.

Guests?, not a problem.
My mother, MIL, and son in law.
They know what's up
