So apparently, Eddie Lampert running the company with a new name, is just as sucky as him running the company with the old name. Who knew?

quote:

Going-out-of-business sales in the 96 stores — 51 Sears and 45 Kmart — slated to close will begin Dec. 2, Transform said in a statement.

After the closures, the company will operate 182 stores and “will continue to evaluate our Sears and Kmart footprint,” it said in a statement.

Transform had announced store closings in August, shuttering some 21 Sears stores and five Kmart stores across the U.S. Sears filed for bankruptcy in October 2018.

So... he bought his own assets out of bankruptcy, he will now have closed 122 stores and have 182 left to close at some point. I'm sure the management fees are fat as ever.

Makes me feel better for cursing out the Indian on the line when discussing my sears warranty last week. Told him he’d lose his job and he should learn to code.

frick sears.

Sears won't exist in another few years. Kmart has been dead for decades and they've allowed it to limp along.

It has been in a death spiral for years, especially since pension costs have been high while they sold off / licensed out all the profit centers that would make people go to Sears like Craftsman tools and Kenmore appliances.

My sister and friend shoplifted Barbie dolls from KMart about 40 years ago. Now these frickers are going out of business. I liked KMart having the slushee machine and the Grill.

Ethically it’s a shite thing to do but financially he will make bank. This guy ranks right up there with the Waltons and the Sacklers.

When was that? I vaguely remember as a kid them having a random game setup like that in the store we went to. They didn't have many games as the years went on iirc.

Footprint getting smaller and smaller, baw. What is there to evaluate as you continue to Blockbuster status?
