Lived in Sherwood for 20 years and sent my kids to STM. We’re happy here, have experienced no crime to speak of and don’t wish to go anywhere.

If you have young family here what you have to look at.

Young family.
- private school move closer to one to enjoy kids being close to after school activities.
- public school Ascension, Livingston, Brusly

Older person kids out of house
- closer to work or not
- if you work out of the house closer to clients or don’t care open anywhere in the BR area
- size of house and yard maintenance
- traffic
- new versus older with amount of money to remodel

At my age I have 3 homes plus rental properties.
BR area for my primary residence
Toledo Bend camp
New Brighton, MN next to my kids and grandkids

I really did not want s large house as I may stay at the other places for a month or longer.
Do not need the room.
Smaller house means less to clean and less yard to maintain at my age.

Younger person with kids you will like the larger yard for them to play in, probably get a dog for the kids, and hot tub for the ladies just don’t let your wife find out. PSA, Wives do not like girlfriends in your hot tub.

As someone mentioned before, Sherwood is one of the biggest neighborhoods in the state and different parts of it are different. My grandmother lives near the corner of Goodwood and Sharp and it is still a nice area that didn’t flood. On the other hand, the area near Florida and Flannery has no hope.

Good post.

I think the redevelopment patterns in Broadmoor will accelerate it's move east towards Sherwood if Amazon actually does move to the Cortana property.

Yes

My parents got out just in time. It’s so different now, maybe it will make a comeback oneday but the city is moving away from that area imo

Inniswold area is something to consider. Perfectly placed between 2 interstates and good neighborhood. Decently priced

The area is technically fine for a grandmother who has been there for 40years.. but it is not an area that anyone will be recommending someone from out of town move to.. there are numerous other areas to be considered...but maybe a lot depends on price range as well

Not necessarily true. A guy I work with just bought a house a few blocks from my grandmother. He is in his mid thirties with a couple of kids. There are young families slowly moving back into the neighborhood and could be on the uprise in a couple young

Sherwood Forest was a very nice area. It still is ok. The issue is, many old folks are sadly going away. In their place, lower income people tend to move in. The higher income (and class) people aren’t moving in often.

For a short term (10 years), it will be fine. But it wouldn’t be a neighborhood I want to invest every dime in with the hopes of my forever home.

Crime is slowly increasing there, as it is all over BR in EVERY area. Yes, there’s better hoods to move into where crime isn’t increasing as much, but it wouldn’t be a big concern for me.

STM is still a good school. Although, the numbers are dwindling and Asian families are taking over. Again, for 10 years, you’ll be fine. 20 years, maybe not.

I think Moscona has it trending in the right direction. Seems to be more concerned about future than previous. Even though I think his brother is a tool,

Same. Never had a problem with crime other than a bike left out and stolen.

STM Church absorbed St. Louis King of France when the Diocese shut that down, so you have a good sized congregation. The school is doing fine.

The turnover in the neighborhoods is from old people dying off and their kids selling to a mix of minorities and flippers. As the renovations build you'll see minorities selling to flippers for a profit.

You're located between Florida and I-12, which gives you two access highways to choose from. Makes it easy to get around.

The Police taking over old Woman's Hospital was a blessing. Now Cortana is going to be an Amazon center. You don't have to worry about a new charity hospital being built on your doorstep.

The neighborhood isn't going to see a drastic downturn.

You'd be in good shape, if this were 1980.

It's not.

No it's not. It's actually 1/3 of the size of Shenandoah Estates which is the largest subdivision in the State.

This school has increased enrollment this year and it is doing just fine. There is nothing wrong with Asian families. Their kids are a lot smarter than yours and have kept the scores high.

It does have over 3000 houses, not sure how many Shenandoah has. Broadmoor has over 2200 houses.
