Brad Garafola.
Wonderful human being and cared deeply for Baton Rouge residents.
Rest in peace brother. Praying for your family right now. He has brothers that are in the department as well.

This community lost some good men today. Wives are without their husbands and children are without fathers. Sickening.

HIS NAME WAS BRAD GARAFOLA

A senseless death in times that make little sense.

May his family take solace in the knowledge that he was working hard to keep his community and his brothers safe.

I am, but this is not why

You unwisely assume too much

These situations are escalating to where these incidents are become more about statistics and numbers than about actual people and names.

The names are important. The stories are important. The faces are important.

We will never change until we make a conscious effort to know the people who die in these foolish situations.

I knew Brad growing up. He was a couple of years older than me. I was friends with and played football with his younger brother. His dad and uncle, also a police officer, were our coaches.

Already bad news only gets worse when you know those involved.

Prayers to his family.
