They just did a major turnaround in FCCU
Yea, I think that was just fixing the patching since that turnaround wasn't expected to happen several years ago when you would engineer/design the improvements. I know part of that turnaround was maintenance work discovered in the actual turnaround, which is something you would never plan for.
Next turnaround I would expect to see some bigger projects associated with it.

23 permanent jobs?
Is it worth the tax break they are getting?
You have to wonder.
Yeah, 23 permanent jobs hardly justifies a tax credit. A Chickfila provides more jobs than that.

Wrong. T/A was planned as part of general maintenance, as they are every 4 years due to instrumentation/rotating equipment/catalyst change-out, etc PM's. There has always been a list of items to be attended to during the case of a non-scheduled outage, had nothing to do with "patching." Not sure how much project or T/A experience you have, but there is ALWAYS a contingency built in for discovery work, which is always expected.. Projects & T/A's are two completely different entities and will never be combined.. Stick to the field and we'll handle the Engineering/Management..

Obviously maintenance is planned every so often based on the unit. But the fact remains FCCU wasn’t planned to be running long term, so major projects for that unit were not implemented in the last turnaround.
That was my only point. I expect that to change for the next FCCU turnaround.

This is somewhat correct. Until late last year, the plan was to mothball the FCCU at Convent and send feed to Norco via the new pipeline.
Shell changed their mind and the refinery went into a full TA this summer including head off. Lot's of major items were replaced and worked on and some EPA required projects were done.
From what I heard, that event was well over $100 million and it's expected the unit will run for five more years until the next one.

They also will be building a world scale MEG2 unit after this one is complete...been working on the early phase engineering for both

46 hands. Barring a hire that's missing an arm.

You dumb frick. Do you realize how lucky y'all are to have that industry down there? I got my feet wet down there, and am thankful for the state of Louisiana and the plant I operated at for giving me a chance. When push came to shove though, I moved back home and got into operations here. The plants here suck compared to how good y'all have it there though. Seriously, y'all should be damn thankful to have such a robust industrial sector.

Yes but this project WILL happen. They have their A team in Houston on the project and the VIR is too good to pass up. Project will be around $800MM

Correct. Conceptual Design and Feasibility are complete and project is now in FEE stage. With all of the cash being spent you'd atleast think they would 4-lane Ashland road to help alleviate some of the traffic problems but.. Not on the priority list-

Haven't kept up with AP politics, but what happened to the truckway that was going to happen from Hwy44 to Ashland? Was going to cross in the area of RPCC.

Haven't heard anything about it in a while.. They did end up widening 30 from Ashland to the interstate but.. With the amount of plant traffic letting out at the same time in the general area from 3 to 5, the whole area is a nightmare. I'm all for the tax incentives, but atleast throw an initiative in there to make everyone succumb to some infrastructure improvements..
