Seems like a smart investment to get Hwy 30 decongested as well as open up a lot of land to development to service companies.
With all the money AP has it would seem smart to do a special tax to fund it from the industries the road would support.

They're cutting trees and prepping land right now.
The road ties into Landry just north of Lamar Dixon. Do you would take a right, drive several hundred feet, take a left on edenborne extension. So kinda zig zag to get from Ashland to 44

23 permanent jobs? Is it worth the tax break they are getting? You have to wonder
Is this a serious question? They are going to put $1.2 BILLION into the local economy and you question validity of the ITEP based on the 23 permanent jobs. Did you miss the 1,000 plus construction jobs? That’s almost $100 MILLION in wages to local construction workers per year of construction. There will be another 150-200 engineers and designers that will work on this project for next couple of years.
Once the project is completed each of the permanent jobs will produce an additional 6-8 indirect permanent jobs to support the new plant. Shell will also likely invest an additional $10-$15 Million annually in capital improvement projects and maintenance.
This project will bring in millions of dollars in sales tax on the materials for both the initial investment and on an annual basis.
In a few years when the ITEP expires Shell’s property taxes will increase as a result of this investment.
But hey let’s not encourage Shell to invest here because it only increases their head count by 23 people.
