Shell Chemical LP is considering a $1.2 billion expansion of its Geismar facilities, a project that would add a “world scale” mono-ethylene glycol unit. The oil and gas giant is seeking a tax break through the state’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program. According to preliminary documents filed with Louisiana Economic Development, the project would create 23 permanent jobs and support 1,030 temporary construction jobs. The documents say Shell currently employs 653 at its Geismar site.

Is this like the same expansion they planned/announced in Convent then cancelled the next week?

Chelsey gonna be loving that fat child support check from Rhett.

Rhett will be able to finally pay off his DWI lawyer and make a down payment on a new jet ski.

Expansion could just involve de-bottleneck. Don't need more people just to run bigger equipment.

There are a lot of industrial construction and expansions going to happen in the next few years between Baton Rouge and New Orleans

That’s what I have heard. Several new plants too. I just didn’t think Shell would do another expansion project this soon after the big one they just finished with. Really good for our area though to have all these expansion projects and new plants being built.

i applaud the creativity and not going for the low-hanging "truck nuts" joke

a little effort goes a long way

They just finished the AO4 Tiger. This one is different-Shell has a lot of undeveloped land although not as much as BASF-which just announced a large expansion.
