Sheetrock Cost (Quote seems high)

Received a sheetrock quote today from a laborer who does odd jobs on the weekend.He is charging $1500 for labor only, it does include finishing. Total coverage is 896 square feet/ 28, 8x4 sheets and includes a stairway. $1.67 seems high especially for a side job. This is in Madisonville if it matters.

Maybe he just wants that much do deal with the project. Stairwells can be a pain in the arse.

Agreed, it is also a vaulted ceiling. This is why I am not doing it. I just truly have no idea what these things cost I usually DIY.

I'm paying .30/ SF to hang and .35/ SF to finish for commercial projects on the NS labor only. I buy the fasteners, gypsum board, and all accessories.

What would be the price, roughly, for residential, new construction. 2 story, curved stairwell, high ceilings?

Residential isn't this cheap though.
I pay .45 to hang and I honestly don't know what I pay to finish because my guy also includes a coat of primer and I have never backed the primer out to break it down.
I know Repairbase by Bluebook allows for $1-$3 to hang and finish depending on the zip code.
I still agree the price may be a little on the high side depending on how cut up the house is but I also just got way more than that on a job we did for Wells Fargo.

For a whole house you're looking at roughly $.30/SF hanging and $.60/SF finishing. That's a good sized job though. No one's doing what you want done for those prices though.

meh, sounds like sub contractor wants to be rich like his educated friends. Get a new quote, that sounds high to me. .30 hang .40 finish sounds more reasonable.

It is a bonus room over the garage and the interior of the stairs to it. One dormer. The walls are 40" then vaulted ceilings to 14 ft. Room is roughly 20x15. Total sheetrock coverage is 896 sq/ft.
