He hasn’t decided where but he also wants to do marching band and wants a big SEC school to do it at. So he’s looking at mostly SEC schools. Just about every one of them would give him a full ride… except LSU. He had no interest in Ivy League schools. Plus most they match scholarship-wise is 50%, based on income

Go to Florida. It's a real SEC school and phenomenal academically.

Georgia is also a better school than Alabama and Athens is probably the best college town in America.

ETA:

This assuming he got a full ride with expenses at these, which he didn't at LSU.

TOPS needs to change.

Go back to being almost a pure meritocracy and, more importantly, needs to have a requirement to live in the state of Louisiana for 3 years post graduation or you owe that money back to the state. Somehow curb the brain drain. People are more likely to remain here long term if they aren't poached to Texas immediately after graduating. They get jobs, find love, etc. and have roots.

All of this and they need to raise the standards. I'm okay with paying for school for kids who are overachievers, but it's absurd to award TOPS to someone who scored an 18 on their ACT and had a 3.0 GPA.

All TOPS did was allow the schools to double up on their fees. Most people still have to pay out of pocket unless you got some additional scholarship money.

going to ole miss and Alabama

Alabama just throws money at La kids to get them over there. Doesn’t cover the $30k a year but makes them feel good for getting a scholarship. Ole Miss is all about the party.

True. Fees now are probably what tuition was before TOPS.

Also, never believe anything LSU brags about when it comes to ACT scores. Turning a score in is optional. The bottom half of the incoming class doesn't even turn in a score

Exactly… LSU has become “test optional”. You don’t even have to use ACT scores so their numbers are skewed. Obviously kids with good ACT scores will use them, and that is what made their average go up- the bottom scores were dropped. They are trying to copy Ivy League schools. Scholarships are based on income, not merit.
Say what you want about Bama but they are among the highest amount of National merit kids in the country. They are attracting the top kids while LSU is pushing them away,

What’s wrong with the vet school? My only complaint is what they charge for students to learn and work on pets. It should be super cheap as it benefits owner and student.

Tate has turned out to be awesome. If he gets booted it’ll be another reason to vote out Landry as soon as possible.

The first slide. There is no way the highest ACT score for a new student was only 26.5. I am assuming that is an average of the highest scorers?

Not saying he hasn't done a good job, I truly have no idea. But what has Tate done that has been good?
