Yes bond did it wrong.
Bond did a lot of things wrong; that was a feature of the imperfect hero. For example, the pistol he used was a women’s pistol according to Ian Fleming. Bond of the novels was much more fallible then Bond of the movies.

[Shooting geek warning]
Haven't read any of the books, but the movies and I understand also the books had him originally using a Beretta .25 ACP, which then he's told to stop carrying in favor of a Walther PPK in .32 ACP. Reportedly in the books he also got with the Walther a Smith & Wesson Centennial Airweight .38 Special.
Those little .25s really are pipsqueaks. I used to own a Walther PP (the slightly larger model from which the PPK is derived) in .32 ACP, and it's a big step up from a .25 but not a gun I'd want to rely on to protect myself--especially when the same exact gun can be had in .380 ACP. The S&W .38 is another substantial step up from the .32. Because I prefer the only partially-shrouded hammer with the option to cock and fire single-action, and also stainless steel for carry, I much prefer and recommend the stainless Bodyguard Airweight (Model 638) instead of the Centennial Airweight. As long as you're reasonably well-prepared to make your five shots counts, it remains a lot of relatively foolproof personal defense for the size and weight.

Yeah, maybe not.
Good side-to-side movement, but not as much up-down movement as you might expect.
Still pretty awesome though...

The tits speak for themselves, but can we acknowledge that little bottom lip bite she does?
