Is it odd that sex offenses are the ONLY crimes that require mandatory lifetime punishment? Not excusing the crime at all, but it's weird to me that these people are on a list forever and have to tell the cops everywhere they live for the rest of their lives. This, even though they served their sentence.
We don't even require that for murderers.

The sex offenders in this county gave up their rights when they offended. They are property of the DOC, and many are the DOC’s property for life. It’s too fricking bad if they see this act as being “unjust”, the community deserves to be protected from these fricked up individuals. If it was up to the victims families they’d much rather these vermin be curb stomped more than anything else.

Case in point..
Osama bin laden. Now, on the news and everyone was calling for his death. They wanted soilders to go in there and murder him. Take him out with extreme prejudice and televise it..
..but, had we sent soliders in there to rape him, well..that would just be inhumane.

Even the guys that just turned 18 and had a 15 year old girlfriend in highschool who lets say was 2 weeks from 16?
That's laughable that everyone is clumped together regardless of "tier".

This is one of the dumbest posts I'ever seen on the OT and that's saying a lot for this board.
Not all sex offenders are the same.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s a crack house or just a house decorated to look like a haunted house.

Is that where Climax, GA is located?
Climax, GA is actually way south of Butts. This is hilarious if you really did not know.

I said MANY are registered for life, not all. The community obviously has concerned parents over this and rightfully so. You clearly aren’t a parent and it shows.

The federal judge didn't give a shite about this. It was not part of the terms that are forced onto these offenders at sentencing no matter how much you ignorantly blather about it.
Take your babble somewhere else.

Their opinions means absolutely nothing here when it comes to con law and especially so when they're not a named party in the suit.

The offender's constitutional rights don't end once you freak out about little Taysom and Caylee walking so much as within 100 yards of one of their houses.

1. These individuals whereabouts are common knowledge. Anyone in the area should know if there is a convicted sex offender on their street or in their neighborhood.
So...um...am I a terrible parent for having never looked up the Sexual Offenders in my neighborhood? I legitimately have 0 idea if 1 (or more) is near us.

Sex offenders shouldn't have to register. Punishment should end once time has been served.

I hate having to take this side because frick child molestors. But I have never agreed with the whole sex offender thing.
If someone is still believed to be a risk to hurt someone again, then they should still be in prison. Otherwise, you should be able to get off the sex offender list just like you get off of parole.

Why is it just for sex offenders? Why not have some murderer, assault, or domestic violence signs printed up, too?
Because being "tough on sex offenders" is low hanging fodder for re election

Exactly. I can murder someone and serve time and get released and not have to register or anything like that. If someone is deemed to be a such a risk that they have to register then they should be/stay locked up.

I think this is probably legal for offenders who are still on probation. Their rights are very limited, and if the Sheriff has oversight of (or at least cooperation from) the probation department then he can likely do this.
People who are not on probation are legally protected from heroes who want to trespass and erect signs on their property, and rightly so.
