I think the OP means, when does this person need to notify neighbors after moving into the neighbor hood...

It goes on a yearly basis. All sex offenders must register by Nov. 1

Not sure about LA, but I received a letter from LE or courts notifying me that an offender had moved into our neighborhood. Sent a picture of the dude and his bio. Myself and neighbors did some snooping and the dude moved into a house with his sisters family after doing time. The house is bout 3 blocks away. I wonder if they will tell us when he moves again.

Actually look into the specifics of his/her case before passing judgement. If the person really committed a sex crime against another person then judge away but some of the people that get put on that list shouldn't be there.
My senior year of high school I was out with my friends and had been drinking. It was around 1:00 am on a Friday night/Saturday morning and I went behind a dumpster to take a leak. While I was pissing a cop pulled up and saw me behind the dumpster. There was no possible way another person could see anything except my head above the dumpster. I was arrested for public intox and public lewdness. Luckily the judge threw the public lewdness out because that would have made me register a sex offender for the rest of my life.

Sex offender registration was set up after a murder/kidnapping that if it had been in place at the time wouldn't have even saved the kid. It is just another example of the government creating 2 problems and not solving 1.

A guy I went to high school with had to register as a sex offender because he was caught with his GF having sex in his car.
She was 16 and he had just turned 18 and they had been together for about 2 years. Both sets of parents pleaded with the courts not to make him regester but it did not matter to the DA.
They ended up getting married after high school and I know he was in a court battle trying to get off the list since he was married to the person.
I lost touch with him so I do not know how it ended for him, but I know he was married to the girl and had to register as a sex offender.

What state? In LA, legal age of consent is 17 but my understanding is that if the age difference is 2 years or less, its not illegal...so 18 year old and 16 year old shouldn't have been illegal...but 19 and 16 is illegal.
