That tornado warning was too fricking late. You don't wait when it's bearing down on a populated area like that.
It had a TVS 5 or more minutes before it went warned.

actually looks like he was retweeting a woman from Deridder.

Too close for comfort: Birgitt Thurman was outside trying to shoot video of the storm, when lightning struck a pine tree right in front of her!

might be getting a warning near Simmsport soon. In Louisiana

What is the purpose of holding off on issuing a warning in that scenario? Are they trying to avoid a "boy who cried wolf" scenario or liability? Or did someone simply drop the ball?

There is no purpose. You don't hold off on a day like today. Most likely they were occupied with the other two warnings. Still, you can't do that.

They've missed tornadoes in the past.

It was simply radar indicated. They have criteria it has to meet in order to issue a warning.

Not ones with a TVS and a clearly defined hook that is right beside an already warned storm.

I'm just speaking in general. Not in relation to the current situation.

I just started a sticky request thread on the help board. It's kind of surprising that hurricane threads would get stickied, but not this one, while multiple tornadoes (in an area occupied by a lot of posters) are actively popping up and will be for several hours.
thread could be helpful to posters who normally wouldn't click on a weather thread.

I live in Oak Grove, just outside Hueytown. We got it in 1998 and 2011, hope it skips us today.

Keep an eye on those systems near the Mississippi/Alabama border. They look to be tracking right up into Tuscaloosa and west Birmingham, which is unfortunately a very familiar corridor.
Brother, you really need to watch that lead confirmed tornado getting ready to enter Jefferson County (from Tuscaloosa).

Not a bad idea consider how this is starting to pan out.

If you get frequent enough replies, is a sticky needed?
