These storms in southern MS are of greatest concern to us at the moment. A tornado has been confirmed near Laurel, MS, and this particular storm will continue to track NE toward Sumter County. #alwx

I’m in Laurel, MS this week for work staying downtown. Power went off at my hotel about 10 minutes ago, but back on now.
What a fricking nightmare.

Be careful bro. I was in the infamous Dec 4, 1978 F4 in Bossier City and I still wear diapers when those things get close. Everybody be safe !

Definitely, especially considering you had to travel to Laurel for work. Yikes.

The line around Hamilton, AL is worrying me. Looks like it’s tracking for me

That is a healthy rotation, and appears to be yet another long track tornado.
This system will be studied for a while. Unusual for this time of year to have such long track tornados.

That storm really hooked northeast of Laurel. You won't see a more classic hook than what it had a few frames ago.

They stretched that enhanced risk further east again

Yeah they did that earlier this afternoon, but this evening trimmed the northern part out. Still further East than the SPC outlook, though.

This is the SPC outlook:

In DeRidder and work with 3 people that were hit by tornado. 2 houses totally demolished, and one significant roof damage. Know another lady who had a family member killed! Crazy for that size tornado around here this time of year!
