One of you weather gurus explain why they think things will intensify in when it gets to Alabama.

It seems to be weakening as it moves northeast.

Buras is in the direct line of that thunderstorm. Has a severe thunderstorm warning with it and the storm relative velocity map shows significant rotation on the back end.

I'm not trying to make light of the situation especially with a poster's home destroyed.

I was supposed to drive to B'ham after work but don't want to drive in it if we're going to be getting what S. LA got.

A platform near there measured 70 mph gust a little while ago.

This reminds me a lot of the storms we would get in the Midwest growing up. Not a lot of energy in some areas followed by "Wait, the newspaper says a row of houses 5 miles away got leveled?" When I was a kid I was so disappointed that I never got to "see" the tornados, but it's funny how being 30 years older and a homeowner changes that perspective.

What did he miss on? Had a tornado down inside of WAFB viewing area, with potentially a second.

Let's see...the majority of BR has had less than a 1/2 inch of rain, barely any thunder, no hail mentioned (which was heavily reported)...you can't make all the predictions that are made, putting BR and everyone in an uproar and have 1 or 2 tornadoes and say you were spot on in your predictions.

Uh....there were 2 touchdowns in the viewing area and at least 3 on the ground at the same time in southeast Louisiana.

Baton Rouge was on the western edge of the risk zone and that appears to be accurate.

Ha. Sorry. Just don't see how this thing was any different than a common big storm that rolls through here producing a pocket here and there of severe stuff. Certainly, not different enough to warrant the hype it brought about.

I get that certain people and areas were effected more and it really is terrible for them, but just don't see much of a difference. If you do, please explain.

WBRZ is showing a random house in Livingston off Florida Blvd with really bad damage. The roof is gone, trees are down.

I watch WAFB pretty regularly including their weather forecast. All I remember them doing yesterday and earlier this morning was describing what is usually associated with being in the "moderate" or "enhanced" risk zone, which included rain, hail, possibility of tornados. I don't recall them making specific predictions specifically related to the amount of rain rainfall, hall, or the number of tornados to touchdown in metro Baton Rouge.

They predicted these things were possible. An elementary school, among other things, was damaged by a tornado in the viewing area. How many tornadoes/deaths would you need to feel satisfied with the forecast's accuracy?
