Does that mean it will be worse in NOLA and further south of BR?

WAFB for now.
Lightning picking up both in the main line and in the cell flowing over BR right now. Lift is getting going better and better.

Not worse than anywhere else, but worse than currently. As the developing low slides north, the best focus for storms ends up coming north with it. There's absolutely a severe risk for all of SE La this afternoon, but it's likely to be worse into Mississippi south of I20 specifically.

I don't believe this was worthy of all the school closings.
I guess Louisiana schools had a lot of snow/flood days banked this year and decided to take the spring break holiday off early.

Better safe than sorry.

Still hasn’t rained at my house in Prairieville, neighbor is cutting grass right now. Pretty wild considering the radar shows us completely covered by ugly rain and lightening

Give it time, the next couple of hours are the worst risk.
Though, yes, it probably wasn't necessary. They probably didn't want to have traffic out and about if the severe risk materializes. You add that with it being the day before spring break/long weekend, and it was an easy call.

What do you folks not understand about— IT HASNT STARTED YET FOR THE BR AREA?

There's a severe thunderstorm warning for St. Landry Parish right now.

It looks like I'm going to get the band in the gulf south of Lafayette right now. I live in Covington. If the band stays strong and narrow and moving fast I won't lose all the fertilizer I put on my yard Sunday.
