Setting a Dangerous Precendent

Leaving out all opinions on whether the virus is serious or not. Or what your economic/political views are. I fear this whole situation is setting a very dangerous precedent.
With schools, athletic events, concerts, etc. all being shut down will this happen every time something comes around in the future? Is civilization just supposed to come to a screeching halt for a virus that may just be a minor blip in human history?

So Italy, a first world country that the BBC says has one of Europe’s best health care system, is completely shutting down their country, essentially declaring martial law and losing tens of billions of dollars, all to stick it to trump?

Ah, the old “let’s weld doors shut in China, have this be the leading story on every news station in the world, shut down all of Italy” play.
Frick, our offices in Belgium are now shutting down, and this is while working for a company that would prefer a Trump-lead US by far to a Sanders and/or Biden one.
This is one massive conspiracy.
Frick, even our good friends the Muslims are cancelling pilgrimages to their holy lands, but I guess they’ve never been known to take their religion seriously.

The "media" does not control the WHO, governments, Corporate CEOs, Sports commissioners, Administrators and experts in the fields of public health or epidemiology.
The media is trying to inform.
As opposed to Trump who has done nothing but sit on his rosy white arse, spread information, minimize and break out his favorite self defense term "hoax".
