Do you understand that the guitar, as an instrument, has shite to do with a “beat”?

Because cursing into a microphone is not music.

You would be wrong, because he says a total of one curse word and it's before the music starts.

Try again

Apples and oranges.

Not a very compelling argument at all.

I don't hate rap as much as I ignore and avoid it. Wasted energy.

I first heard rap and it's early derivatives back in 1981 or '82. I said at the time it'll only last a couple or three years and fade away as yet another fad. Oh well.

If I'm being honest, I prefer hip hop much more than rap. I would rather Tribe Called Quest, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5 and Beastie Boys over just straight rap. Although I still bump Big Tymers, NWA, Run The Jewels, Dre and Emininem and D12 as well. I get some funny looks on the road when I have my 12s cranked up at my age.

Because I like bands that have talent, play instruments, make music that has a tune.

They have tons of talent. If they didn't every kid out there would grow up to be a music producer and a rapper. It's not as easy as it looks.

Joaquin Phoenix took a run at it. Go check out his YouTube clips if you need a good laugh.

when I said talent, I meant musicianship. mastering an musical instrument. many artists use their voice as an instrument when they sing...but this is not singing, this is talking over a beat. the talent lies in studying a dictionary to the point where one can put words together in a fashion that rhymes and flows....but so do writers and poets, and they don't call themselves musicians.

Yep. That's a perfect example of this new age of rap. It's off beat, off key and it has no flow. That's not the rap I know.

The words to this song is too long to post so here is the link. It's Eminem's Rap God.

You wish you could play on words like he can.

LINK

Then he can say 4.2 words a second.
