Here is how it works for drug addicts and alcoholics.

You have to let them hit rock bottom. Keep everyone around them as safe as possible, but the user has to experience his or her own personal depth to start to quit.

If you stick around, you'll have to watch and be a complete a-hole. Doesn't mean it will work. Good luck

Start with prayer. Pray for her everyday. Seriously. Good place to start.

That is what I was going to post.

From the successful recoveries I've seen, it took a rock bottom moment for them to get help.

It's getting worse and it's going to cause some bad times and damage in the near future.

I want quantifiable metrics to determine this. The ole "He/she drinks too much" is often subjective and skewed by a prudish poon of a sig other.

1. Is he/she missing work or are you just angry he/she isn't going above and beyond to be there early and stay late because of alcohol.

2. What 'family' is adversely affected? How so? Did someone bitch about him/her bringing beer to a toddler's birthday party or did he/she pass out in the baby pool at said party?

3. Are you putting ideas in the kids' heads about his/her drinking or is he/she abusing/neglecting the kids? For example, are you mad that he/she laid on the couch watching Netflix with the kids while having beers or did he not feed them while you were out last Saturday?

Serious answer for a serious question. Avoiding the behavior is enabling the person, and putting their health/safety (as well as those around them) at risk. They are the only ones who can choose to change their behavior...but they are less likely to address it if they aren't held accountable. Avoiding addressing the behavior only lets it go on longer, magnifying the consequences.

Get a hold of it quick, because it leads to a life of absolute chaos. I don’t have an answer when they’re completely out of control, and it fricking sucks.

no, that is not the answer that Christ offers.

This. Jesus made his own booze so you know God smiles upon drinking

He is cheating on you and feels guilty because he knows you will never find another partner. He is drowning his guilt in booze.
You are in a lose\lose
