I currently carry 2 phones because of our email policy. We can only receive email on a work issued phone.

I have two phones. We have monitoring apps on work phones. If you opt to have the company pay your phone bill, you have to install that app. Your phobe is subject to being taken anytime. I can't have my posting history up for review.

Option A.

We are told when we hire on to “use it like it’s yours “ but I still prefer my own phone.

If you are at a job then choose option a, gives you the ability to shut it off when your on vacation etc.
If you are in your career then use your own phone, 1. If you leave your current company all your contacts still have your information. 2. If you are going to be a big shot then you will never really be off work anyway.

Get a stipend for your own phone, and then use a mobile app from your company's phone system to mimic your desk phone on your cell. This way, you have 1 device with 2 separate phones on it.

You have plenty enough room on your belt to wear two cell phones.

Having done both, I'd choose B all day long.

From the company standpoint, A is the better option. Why? Well, among other things, if the employee is poached by a competitor, all his contacts aren't calling his personal cell and potentially switching companies. Which is another reason I prefer B as an option.

I’ve heard of some companies doing this but you sign over the rights to your personal number in the event that you leave the company.

That would be a deal breaker.

Not to date myself but when cell phones first came around there was one point when I had a personal phone, a work phone, a pager and for a year a third phone that was supposed to be with me at all times for a special project we were working on. I looked like the biggest douche ever and knew it. Will never go back to having more than a single device. Wondering what that year of walking around with all of those radio waves is going to do to me eventually.

By the way, there is an app that let's a second # ring on your 1 phone.

Get app...number is given to you....put that # on your cards as cell #.

Recieve stipend and PROFIT

You know you can have one phone with two numbers right?

This or port your number through Google voice.

Depends on the type of work you do and who will be calling your work phone. I'd never want my clients to have my personal cell phone. It's a pain to carry around the second phone, but it stays in my briefcase, and I can shut it down or mute it when I'm not available/off the clock.

I used to carry 2 phones then switched to a single personal phone.

I’ve trained myself not to look at work email or answer work phone calls when I’m not “on the clock”.

When I had 2 phones I would turn the work one off when I was off.

Of the 2 options I prefer the personal phone with the paid stipend.

A every day. I have absolutely no interest in company knowing what my idiot friends text me. Not do I have any desire to risk getting my personal phone phone seized in discovery.

They make phones that can handle 2 sim cards. You will have a problem if they are two different networks, though (e.g. Verizon and ATT).
