Looks good? Please. It looks like the cheap shite that it is. Damn right they won’t allow it. Nice neighborhoods have standards.
Must be a southern bias, in Illinois, Wisconsin, most of the Midwest, vinyl is common even on million dollar homes.

It’s never been in style.

I have to believe this is a troll...for your sake because vinyl siding is terrible.

No, it is just an OT thing.
Remember...everyone on the OT lives in houses like this

Somebody put steel siding over our cedar shake like 40 years ago and other than needing some paint, it's fricking awesome. LINK /

I don't like my house being covered in something that dents if I lean up against it

Just bought a house with Vinyl siding, and couldn't wait to rip that crap off. Only to discover perfectly preserved cedar shake.
Slapped a little (a ton) paint on the cedar, and it looks awesome next to our brick.

Because the freeze/thaw cycles fricks poorly finished wood up. You'd constantly be painting and dealing with nail pops with wood siding in that climate.
Also, the Midwest is like 20 years behind many trends.
Brick is still the way to go. It doesn't creak in high winds either.

I can't stand dutch lap. Put double 5s on my house 15 years ago and other than problems with a baseball and a 10 year old it still looks fine. I hose it down with bleach & dawn every year or so and hose it off.

No it’s not. I’m talking about new neighborhoods that consist of mainly $200k - $250k homes that won’t allow siding.

Tell that to the northeast. Everything has vinyl siding. Looks horrible, IMO.

That is a good looking product.

There's a reason the 3 little pigs didn't end up safe in a vinyl sided house. Brick is the only way to go

White vinyl siding here
No fricks given, the wife and I like it, we pay the mortgage, so MYB.

Built a house in 2003 in Abita Springs all vinyl. It was Certain Teed Monogram in Barn Red and was not cheap. Faded pretty badly in about 5 years, Sent them a piece of the siding with tons of pics, They sent a rep out. Wound up covering the siding to replace and most of the labor. Definitely stood behind their product very well. Went with a medium blue the next time and it is holding up good even after we sold the house a few years later. If I had to do it today I would definitely use Hardy because it looks better but It wasn't a bad product for it's time. Just not as many using Hardy back then.
