No it’s not. I’m talking about new neighborhoods that consist of mainly $200k - $250k homes that won’t allow siding.

Every time Boudreaux mows and hits a rock he doesn’t get a hole in the house with cement fiber. So there’s that...

Well yeah, but regardless of what everyone here tells you, that's outside of the budget for most folks, including myself.

You can’t buy class, I guess.

My house is cedar. But then again, I respect wood.

My house was built in 1940. The front and the first 1/3 of the sides are limestone. The rest was wood siding that someone covered with aluminum siding back in the heyday of aluminum. That shite's invincible, so I've just left it there.

Believe it or not they still make aluminum siding.
One of my stores still sell it to an apartment maintenance company.

Trim and fascia are all cedar. Just not worth the extra cost to me to use cedar over Hardie, especially since it was to be painted. It's hard for me to paint over cedar.

That is a good looking product.

It is really is. I thought it was aluminum until I realized it was magnetic. My contractor still wanted to rip it off and use Hardieboard... I kindly replied

. It's an amazing product

It's being phased out because of new building codes. New codes require all homes to be built to wind ratings for your the location. Miami Dade codes are the standard used in Louisiana, although the wind rating change based on Parish, and proximity to the coast. Traditional Vinyl siding can't handle the wind ratings.

There is new wind rated compliant vinyl siding but it's cost for materials and labor for installation make it way less of an option than it once was.

Around Missouri/Kansas polymer siding is really popular. I know one company in MO makes it so maybe there are no options down south but it comes in traditional lap seamless or dutch lap seamless.

This stuff should pass any wind requirements. You can hit it with a baseball at 90mph and not damage it. It withstands baseball+ size hail, too. It is like magic.

For fans of vinyl look to see if you can find polymer siding next time.
