By handling it internally?

The not so subtle racism?/ignorance?/attention whoring?of deflecting for some trashy, drunk racist you don’t even know. Strange take on this story.

Pics or it didn't happen.

This isn't newsworthy, but damn how is a person just going to text that. Nut job.

It should be handled internally and not blasted to all the media.

And by handled internally I mean fired for cause first thing Tuesday morning. I’d have her entire office packed up before she got to school and waiting for her in boxes. She’d never step foot back into the office but only reach the principal’s office before being let go.

It’s just my opinion that the price she will have to pay by making this a news story is too high for her doing something that is stupid and disgraceful but not illegal.

yep, unfortunately....pretty common, especially with lower class people which she obviously is.

I agree that it's trashy. Just like the people that call MLK day James Earl Ray day but until the group of people that pretend to be offended over the word stop using it so nonchalantly then I'll continue not to take their complaint about the word seriously.

to be fair, it looks like her inability to spell may have kept the screen grab post in bounds.

Management: Mrs X, please come into my office.

*Door closes*

Management: We saw a disturbing text message, and would like to ask you if this was indeed sent by your phone.

Confirmation

Management: This was unprofessional, does not abide by our code of conduct, ect. Please pack up your desk, as you are terminated as of now.

She's ignorant no doubt. I'm just not sure she needs her life destroyed for using a word that is used 100 times in a song.

Also, you failed to respond to the double standard I pointed out. It was sarcastic but that doesn't make it less true

The context is relatively clear here. She isn’t repeating a lyric or quoting someone else or discussing the term in a context any other than one that shows her racism.

To me, context always matters. I understand that cancel culture doesn’t always take that approach. This just isn’t that story.

I heard people say that when MLK became a national holiday in the '90s (or the '80s, I forget). I have never seen that written in a text until this thread.

I love how her response was "didn't mean to send that to you." Not "I'm sorry, I'm not sure what autocorrect was thinking" or "I'm sorry, that was a terrible joke." It was "I was trying to send that to someone else."

Of course, this has happened

The memes in the aftermath were hilarious

This is absolutely cause for termination, and goodness this woman definitely has issues. That being said there may be some priority issues in our culture when people are far more upset over this than if the coach who screenshot and sent it to the media would have been busted for a DUI.

So your standard is that if someone is racist it's OK to destroy their lives even over just using a word?

Just want to be clear here so we establish what is OK IYO

IF this is your bar for being ok with someone's life being publicly destroyed, sure hope you have zero skeletons in your closet. Yea, she absolutely should be fired for a frick up like this. But there is no (legitimate) reason this needs to be in the news.

I want to reply with some of the memes but I just know one of them will be so far across the line that I’ll get banned and probably outed and fired.
