Seattle Man gets 181 Page Bill for over $1.1 million for Coronavirus Hospitalization.

After his release on May 6, Flor thought the harrowing experience was behind him - until he was hit with the 181-page bill.
'I opened it and said 'Holy s**t!' ' Flor told The Seattle Times Saturday.
The bill features nearly 3,000 itemized charges, which evens out to around 50 for each day of his stay.

The hospital will be happy with about 10%. The insurance would cover about 115,000 and the patient about 5,000.

The Swedish hospitals are top notch facilities. My first child was born in that very one in Issaquah. Clean, efficient, organized, with the customer service of Chic-fil-A.

Medicare advantage type plans are typically private companies (BC/BS, Humana) that take the place of Medicare. The company typically makes a spread on the cost difference. If you are 65+, do straight Medicare with a supplement as opposed to these plans, unless you want to deal with having to get prior authorization for imaging (MRIs), acute rehab, skilled nursing facilities, and expensive medications.

They “manage” and administer a Medicare plan for the gov. They get federal dollars for these patients.

Full price medical prices are insane. Nobody pays full price.
My son had a 10 minute outpatient eye operation and the full price was 100k. Insurance paid 8k, we paid 800.
There is no reporting related to covid that is based on reality.

I think they get a flat rate of pay per month from the govt. They offer “free gym memberships” to try to select a healthier population under the guise of “keeping people healthy. And they deny expensive necessary services all the time.

In short, you're right. The hospitals have a guaranteed payor (federal) and due to the Covid Acts can pad the billing. If they have the bed space, why not keep him 2 full months. It's a huge grift.
