Ours get paid repair time. So if a job is quoted at 3 hours that is the most he/she will get paid.

I pay to have most greasy auto work done, and I don't mind. This is about doing the job at the agreed price... Which they did. Eventually...

I don't try to capitalize on a mistake by a business. If they say they forgot to put the labor on it I would ask them what labor was and if I was happy with it I would pay it. If not, I would go somewhere else but I surely wouldn't strong arm someone over a mistake.

I agree. We all make mistakes and I sure as shite wouldn't punish an innocent person, the mechanic who gets paid per job in this case, over $100.

I understand...but you paid too much in labor.

At our dealership, labor to replace front pads and rotors is $85.(takes about 45 minutes to do actual work)

Parts amount seems to be inline so that's a plus.

DId you look at the quote before handing to the counter girl? Did it have the labor on it? I look at all that shite. BTW you aren't paying for them to do the brakes on your car. You are paying them so that if something goes wrong with the brakes you don't have to jump through hoops to get it fixed. I am not trying to be the counter argument guy. I think that they should honor the quote they gave you. But I also think you should have used the office copier. So when she told you that labor was not included you could point her to the line the cost is on.

$139.99 labor to replace front pads and both front rotors??????
Daaayyyyuuuum...you got robbed
I'm sure there are people that will do it for less, but I think that the book is an 1.5 hours for that.

Whats to say this isn't a tactic to get more customers to come there? Lowball the quote and then say oh I forgot to include the labor in my quote.

If it was someone I regularly did business with I would agree with you... but when I was specifically shopping around for the lowest quote I am with tclay here

Does the printed quote/contract have no validity?

A quote is the same thing as a contract?

The manager calling him from vacation and honoring it says this isn't he case IMO. If it were a scheme to get people in the door only to do what you say they would have just let him come get his truck like the cashier said earlier.

That was a mistake on my part. I did not read every line item on the original quote and I left it with them that morning for reference. That could have bit me in the arse... Because honestly, I don't know if it was on there or not. I suspect it was because the manager and I have always had a good relationship as evidenced by his phone call.

I also remember him specifically saying hold on to that quote and bring it back in when you want the job done. I just happened to pick the week he was not there. I think the employees were trying to pull a fast one since he was gone and just got called on it.

I was not saying that was the case in this specific situation but I was arguing why someone would do it. I tend to agree and do not think is the case in this situation.

However, Sears "earned" his business under false pretenses and I know I would never choose a big box store like that over my normal mom and pops shop if ll things are equal.

I have always used a local mechanic that I've been referred to by someone I trust. That way I never have any questions about anything I have done

Your bill doesn't add up correctly.
$174.94
+$133.99
=$314.93

plus the sales tax doesn't make sense.

$25.49 is not exactly 8.600% of either the correct total or the total they gave you. Nor should you pay sales tax on labor rates.

Bill is garbage.

i'm so fricking happy I know how to do basic maintenance. One time I was out of town and didn't have tools and had to have front brake pads and it was around $175 for two. My jaw dropped. I have the life long guarantee brake pads so any change I do myself is under $20
