Completed PADI Open Water in 1996 and Advanced Open Water in 1999.
Logged probably 80 dives between 1996-2004 mostly in North Arkansas, and 15 or so in Gulf.
Kind of got out of it after high school and college. Haven't been in the last 5 or 6 years.

The wife and I are PADI certified scuba divers. We have a handful of 2 tank dives in St Lucia. I also have a few dives in Possum Kingdom Lake with my dad. I like to get cross eyed drunk now instead of diving. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future.

13 years, advanced open water favorite spot is Cozumel. Been a few years since I went out not that I think about it, I'm due for a trip.

PADI certified in 2002 in Roatan. I have logged dives in Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Florida, Louisiana, Cali, and Hawaii.

happy to say that the lionfish population in Grand Cayman seems to be well under control vs last time I was there. I speared only 3 this last trip (March). If you haven't eaten them, you should; they are delicious.
I was pissed that in Cozumel they weren't killing them on sight. Cayman dive masters will almsot always smoke them if they see them.

We did Anthony's Key in Roatan for our honeymoon. Great diving and had the bungaloo on the water. Kind of like a poor man's Fiji. Sand Fleas there SUCKED though.

Checking in NAUI basic diver certs. Got certified when Seven Seas was on Jefferson Hwy by Brad Barousse when Phil was still alive. Make the occasional dive here, and there when I can. Certified with my girlfriend at the time who is now my wife. She's gotten away from it after we had kids.

In about 1998, my brother was into diving. He was about 10 days away from the trip to Australia and Papua New Guinea when one guy had to drop out because the trial he had scheduled didn't settle. My brother paid for me to go, but I had never dove.
I went to class every day for a week, did my certification dive at Toledo Bend that weekend, flew to Australia then PNG the next monday. We lived on a boat for 6 days, doing, i think, 5 dives a day. The last one was always a night dive.
Then, we spent 3 days at some resort and dove 3x a day.
I have never dived since. I still think its an awesome hobby. Its pretty amazing down there.

Have been to several wrecks off the florida panhandle the freshwater springs. Christ of the abyss in Key Largo, also did the Speigle Grove while there. The Venice FL area for sharks teeth. Spear fished the platforms in the gulf, two trips to Cozumel and a few times into the intracoastal to cut shite out of propellers.
Sadly my gear has been collecting dust since having children 8 yrs ago... Probably logged somewhere around 75 dives.

Your daughter is very lucky to be alive..
My brother lost his arm to a rogue nurse shark while snorkeling in 1996. I would never let my little girl anywhere near one of those beasts. Never know when they will snap

My dad let my brother and me get certified when we turned 12. 23 now, so 11 years going. The family goes on vacation every summer to Grand Cayman, but that's the only time we go diving.
I've cut back the last few times. I suck through air at a horrendous rate, even when consciously trying not to, to the point where it's a little embarrassing.

Hahaha do they call the shark FIN? Fairly Innocuous Nurse shark? My brother got really good GoPro video of that shark. So docile.

ONly thing that will help that is more bottom time and comfort in the water. I had a few guys that did that on a trip to Cozumel.

Each dive operation calls the shark a different name. I do know that there are 2 on Seven Mile that are friendly, with the one we were with that dive being the friendlier of the two. The other is larger and has a hairlip from a hook that is long since gone.
I've toyed with the idea of NITROX... I understand it doesn't make you as tired at the end of the day than regular mix. I don't care to dive deep anymore, so the depth limit isn't an issue. I would like it if the air isn't quite as dry feeling as the regular mix. I don't care for the cotton mouth feel and if NITROX changes it, I might do it.

been NAUI certified since 1995, open water II, rescue, master diver. have dove bahamas, coasta rica, fla, and MANY times on La rigs.
got out of it for a few yrs but mack jr #1 wraps up his jr certification in a few weeks and then its game on

Several sites in Cozumel are protected Marine Preserves. The DMs often try to avoid killing anything on guided dives but they will take lionfish during leisure trips.
