She dragged the shot out till 2 days before we were to induce and she called me from Toyota and said "frick it, I'm buying new, and dont say shite"
You got cucked by her salesman.

Yall better suck it up like everyone else b/c if they out of business, we will just bail them out again. Plus we need them trucks to build that wall.

I agree. No one ever gives unions any credit. If there were not any unions, non union construction workers would be making little more than minimum wage. It is cool to hate on unions, but if they are eliminated, wages will drop for everyone that works with their hands or backs.
Wage levels for non-union trades and general labor are determined by the same economic forces that drive wages in other occupations that have been historically non-union. Unions artificially setting wage levels should get plenty of credit destroying economic growth and associated business viability.

That would have gotten her close to a divorce in my mind. Zero way you do something like that on the fly without the other partner being involved. I don't care how preggo you are, that's absurd.

Trucks last a lot longer than they did. There are lots of badass trucks at very reasonable prices.

I try to keep my vehicle cost at around $0.04/mile.
A new vehicle will be between $0.25 - $0.30 per mile.
The best buy for a truck is to get a decent deal on one with around 100K miles, drive it 50K miles, and sell it to start over.
For example, in 2015 I bought a 2009 F150 4x4 which had 104K miles on it for $12,500. I drove it until it had 155K and sold it for $11K. That truck cost me $0.03 per mile and never had an issue.
All of the full size trucks are reliable and should easily get well over 200K miles. Sure, you could get a lemon, but odds are that you won’t. The maintenance cost of these trucks is surprisingly low in that mileage range.
The trick is to get out of it while the resale is good, and NEVER be the last owner.

Price of trucks started going up exponentially when women started driving them more often. But the ultimate blame for this rests with men.
Women are stupid and don't know how to bargain.
Women are stupid and don't know the difference between features and capability.
Women are stupid and don't make much money so husbands have to pay the price.
Women are stupid and don't know how to drive trucks to begin with.
If men would start acting like men again and refuse to pay these prices and avoid needless bells and whistles, the manufacturers would respond.
Jeep Wranglers have gone on the same trajectory for the same reasons.
Men can put a stop to this or stop bitching.

Everyone financing for 5 or 6 years has absolutely driven up price for all vehicles except the lowest end. Salesmen focus on the monthly pmt not the total and most people bite.
Has nothing to do with UAW or production costs.

^ gets it. Paid 45k for 2017 Tahoe LT and will take that deduction and come out way cheaper than buying used.

Cash for Clunkers fricked everything everyone knew and thought about vehicle prices.

When trucks stopped being work/utility vehicles and instead became luxury products, the price increased accordingly. Gone are the days of a 17k Ranger with manual windows and no bells and whistles - consumers don't want it.
No doubt. Just look at the difference in a Toyota truck in Australia:
Damn, I would love to have a bed with tie downs around the top rim. Makes zero sense to bury them on the inside.

There will be a market correction soon on trucks and suvs. There is very little material and production costs difference between a $60,000 pickup truck and a $30,000 sedan. This is all market demand pricing structure and I'm seeing more and more of the market reject the price tag on trucks and SUVs
Yeah, the market correction is “phase out sedans to get more line time for profitable SUVs”
Next phase is to jack up sedan prices because of diminished supply.

I had a diesel Hilux 3 years ago. It was cheap and indestructible and not available in the US.

Is this truck only thread, or can cars be discussed?

We’ve already covered retirement strategies and how women should not be allowed to buy a vehicle. I think this thread can handle cars.
