One of the best deals I've ever gotten in my life was off of a scrap truck/trailer. It is a Quick Set aluminum tripod, fully adjustable, pan/tilt, up to 6 and a half foot tall, with independently adjustable legs. They still sell, used, for $250-$300. I paid not-a-damn-thing for it.

The scrap yard has a geiger on the scale and it lit up. Wouldn't touch due to radioactivity.
Check with Iran, I hear they'll pay top dollar.

Depends on the size of the pieces, what it’s made of, whether it’s considered iron, tin, aluminum etc…. If it’s heavy iron and less than 4’ long, can get Good prices (but those types of pieces would usually be generated from some old machinery or industrial equipment). It varies depending on the material to be recycled.
For the “white goods” (fridge, washer, dryer etc), there are 2nd hand companies that will take them depending on whether or not they can be repaired and sold on the 2nd hand market. I’ve seen huge war warehouses around NOLA that have 2nd hand white goods either for sale or being repaired.
Apparently there is a decent market for this, and I’m assuming it will be even more lucrative and active in our future as the world crumbles and new materials and supplies become more scarce with time.
The world we living in fellas!
But hey, more power to these guys doing it, all the best to them & maybe it helps them out food on the table!

Here in Texas, unless you're selling cans only you have to show photo ID and provide a thumbprint.

I began scrapping on the side last year. Was cleaning up this property I bought with a lot of abandoned junk on it. Getting dumpsters would cost a fortune. So I started scrapping.
Did well but prices dropped recently, and too much. $135/ton.
I’d ride around and grab appliances around the home area. Almost $20 a pop. It adds up quickly when 10 cents a lb. Earlier this year that is.

You get $0.03 a pound for #2 steel. That is $60 for every $200 pounds. Appliance recyclers will give you $10-20 a machine if it's in good shape and not missing anything.

I had a 60' cadillac I was taking forever to work on. A tree fell on it a few months back. It can be fixed but will cost more than worth. I'm thinking of scrapping it. It's a top 5 heavist car ever for sure.

Why don't you come to your senses?
You've been out ridin' fences
For so long now
Oh, you're a hard one.
But I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

I had some crap at my house and that’s the exact price I was told .03. Not worth the fuel.

Nah you can make a few hundred per trip.
I know real estate guys that do it with shitty appliances or broken ac units they are pulling out of houses before reselling them.

Family member is in the auto scrap, at today’s prices your caddy is at least $1000.00 scrap value. These guys with a trailer that buy junk cars for $100-150 bucks are making good money.

yep...the plants are still outsourcing alot of scrap due to the covid shutdowns/layoffs. demand is higher than ive ever seen it. over $4 lb #1 copper, and aluminum cans $.80
