My buddy Deke “Big Chief” Bellavia tells a hysterical off-air story about Scoot and the business end of a Candy Cane at a WWL Company Christmas Party.
If you ever see “Big Chief” around, you really need to ask him about it. He does a great Scoot impression.

If I remember correctly sometime last year Scoot was on a break so Ian was feeling in and people kept calling in telling Ian he should replace Scoot. To the point that he asked people to stop calling in because he didn’t want to take his friends job. It was one of the most awkward things I’ve ever heard on talk radio.

He’s filling in for him this week

Scoot has been on the radio for at least 30 years. I remember him on B97 talking about sex topics. He’s gotta be cheap to employ.
I remember that. IIRC it was when Stern was getting big with his edgy style and Scoot tried to do some oddball creepy version of it. Was even more horrible then ever.

If i recall , in the 80s there was a jingle on local NOLA tv and radio that went :
“Scoot in the Morning
Scoot at Night
Scoot Scoot Scoot
When ya feeling uptight”
.. it’s possible i made that up or am just imagining it though

I listened to Scoot in the mid 70s on WRNO. He was the cool dope smoking Johnny Rotten of New Orleans Great sense of humor. An East Jeff graduate. Now he still retains his quick humor and has some conservative views but he loses me with his constant “radical right wing” talk. It’s constant and dishonest. He labels people with diff views tan him. His sidekick Ian is just an out of town soft pudding wimp lefty feminist cosmo idiot
This, and his time as B-97's morning drive host were his heyday. He should have stuck with that.
He still has a great and I mean great radio voice. It's a shame that he thinks he has some "gravitas" now.

Yeah, cuz that never, ever happens here on TD

Scoot has been around since I was in high school during the Carter years! He and Captain Humble were the morning dj's for WRNO and WWL-FM...

Scoot tried to do his own "independent" Saints postgame show about 10-15 years ago and it was frickin terrible. It was something you could laugh *at*, but after about 5 solid minutes the secondhand embarrassment was just too much.
Another station let John Fourcade do a postgame show around that time, and it was similarly bad. I get it- WWL is about as enjoyable as chemotherapy diarrhea- but it's apparently possible to be worse than WWL.

He works as an on air personality. Of course he’s a fruit boy.

I stopped listening when guest host Ian was trying to justify Biden paying for his private college tution loans.
It's three hours of liberal garbage. I'd rather anyone from the Saturday morning lineup.

quote:Did he used to be known as “Scoot in the morning” on old WNOE-AM at the tail end of the CC Courtney and Lou Kirby dj glory days? Or maybe paired up with Capt. Humble in the mornings on WRNO-FM? I mean this would be 50 yrs ago. That Scoot was a complete waste back then.
This fricker has been on NOLA radio for like 30 years in different capacities.
