You don't believe in sea level rise or climate change?

Oh wow.

You guys are the moon landing deniers of 2050.

I'm not arguing about the cause or what we do, but just that you don't believe it is happening.

How do you explain reoccurring ice age if climate doesn't change ?

I believe in climate change. Wish they would let the water behind the levees. Would be nice to only be a 3 block walk to the lakefront.

Like Grand Isle but with more culture.

"False. There are many options. I spent 8 years of my life working with others on solutions. We presented the solutions. The solutions have been ignored. They are not cheap options and they are not easy options, but they are options. "
-agreed 100%

As of now, we lack the political will to make hard choices. Without drastic changes, NO will continue to flood, and the federal government will rightfully stop supporting the bailouts. (See Puerto Rico- )

New Orleans used to be the 3rd largest city in the US. Our mismanagement, and corruption has seen NO/Louisiana erode while Texas (Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio) thrive. America can survive without New Orleans. Its up to us.

GNO Urban Water Plan- as in earlier post

Coastal Plan

Yes, Oil companies are building/planning for rising sea levels. We should too.

I believe humans are awful when it comes to being stewards of the environment. What I am not a fan of is blaming everything on climate change. That’s the fairytale! Scientific American posts an article on how climate change is destroying NOLA when everyone here knows it has everything to do with the degradation of the wetlands on the Louisiana coast.

Listen to Joe Rogans podcast on climate change. The journalist parading as a scientist is claiming it’s going to be 150 degrees in 31 years and parts of NYC will be under water. That’s insanity.

Sea level rise and ground subsidence will render the flood barriers inadequate in as little as four years

they just want more funding. the 100 year storm these walls were designed for included sea level rise and subsidence.

Climate change isn't a fairytale nor is sea level rise.

Saying that it is a fairytale discredits everything you say after.

Just look at data from unbiased sources and stay away from opinion people like Joe Rogan or journalist.

There is no realistic solution long term other than continually raising the levees or burying the first story of the buildings and raising the streets up a level.

It's a good think climate change is a hoax made up by China or NOLA would be in for a bad time.

They need to hire someone from the Netherlands to get the city straight. Pretty much that whole country is like New Orleans and they've done a great job keeping it from flooding.

BottomlandBrew had a great interaction with one of their experts during his project. Maybe he will come back and mention it.

“We should be looking at higher than a 100-year standard, but not through levees alone,” Lopez said, calling for Congress to pay for natural barriers that build up coastal buffers. “We need a higher standard, but it should never be a single-type solution because we’ve seen that doesn’t work.”
i love this quote. because when this system was being planned larger storms were considered but deemed to expensive. But this 100 year system is design to withstand a 500 year storm with over topping.

I hope everyone realizes building a city where new orleans is now is just like going to build a city on top of the marsh in golden meadow. The shite is going to sink without properly installed friction piles. Sea levels aren't rising. The coast is just eroding away. Dont listen to those blue haired liberals spewing bullshite
