I've made many purchases online with Walmart and get a text from the same "short code" telephone number each time from Walmart with a link of my receipt or delivery status etc. I have the whole text thread with links to all the previous purchases.

But I haven't ordered anything from Walmart for a while now.

I just got another text from that same short code with a link to my receipt. But obviously I haven't purchased anything from Walmart. I scrolled up to look at the link format from previous non-scam texts and its different but if I had recently made a purchase from Walmart I wouldn't have thought twice about clicking the link.

This scamming is completely out of control. Will AI save us or make this all worse?

We send people to space, hit a gnats arse with a missile 8k miles away, and Elon can land a fricking rocket, but the government acts like these guys are uncatchable.

This is the kind of shite the government should be doing for its citizens.

If we could somehow put an internet/phone blockade on India, the world would be a better place.

Good move to check the link format. I've made a habit of doing just that in every instance. I'm amazed at the number of people who never think to look at it since it's a dead giveaway to a dubious scam/phishing text 100% of the time.

That's an interesting one.
I usually catch these pretty easily. But this is I might fall for (that is if I would have a need to see the receipt, which I usually don't for personal purchases.

Should have signed up for the national ‘do not call’ list. Don’t you remember when the government solved this problem?

Most likely.

As with anything like this, the government is likely making money off of fricking us over.

You don’t fix a problem that you benefit from.

If the government or someone within government was missing out on income because of this, it would have been shut down years ago.

This sounds like someone hacked your wal mart account and is trying to purchase something.

It sucks that is for sure but we are lucky compared to any other country of people.

Our own people just can’t/wont realize this.

I honestly think people just imagine we print money and it doesn’t matter how much we print and hand out.

I just got a text receipt from the Blind River Bar from a previous short code text string.

I’ve never been out there.

The reason is because the United States are one of the very few countries that ALLOWS our personal data to be captured and sold. We are worse than a 3rd world country when it comes to personal data. Europe has very protective laws...not the U.S. So, with that being said, do you honestly think they give frick about a text message scam.

I've had an explosion of scam emails, half of which are for PayPal "Unauthorized Transaction Alert" from random people with nothing to do with PayPal in the sender address. The last one was for two hundred and some-odd dollars to an indoor climbing place. They all have a transaction receipt and what is supposedly an attached PDF file of the "receipt".

Other emails are titled "Remember for Notes" or "Remember IS Notes" and look like forwarded emails. They also have an attached PDF file. I've never clicked on or downloaded anything from them, of course, but it wouldn't be hard to see how some people could fall for it.

I've also received a few emails with the sender being my Dad, who has been dead for nearly eight years now.

This shite is ridiculous, and it has gotten worse over the past couple of months.
