Sazerac in New Orleans pays $550 million to buy 19 Diageo liquor brands

New Orleans-based Sazerac Co. is paying $550 million to buy 19 liquor brands from Diageo, a wine and spirits company based in Britain.
The brands included in the transaction are Seagram’s VO, Seagram’s 83, Seagram’s Five Star, Myers’s, Parrot Bay, Romana Sambuca, Popov, Yukon Jack, Goldschlager, Stirrings, The Club, Scoresby, Black Haus, Peligroso, Relska, Grind, Piehole, Booth’s and John Begg.

Tracing its history to 1850, Sazerac is one of New Orleans’ oldest family-owned companies and one of America’s oldest, family-owned, privately held distillers. In addition to Louisiana, Sazerac has operations in Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Maine, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Maryland and California, and global operations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, India, Australia and Canada.
The wealthiest family in Louisiana by far is the Goldring family and they continue to expand their company.

They are hardly New Orleans based. About 10% of their administrative operations is out of New Orleans area at most.

No shite! My daddy had a fridge in the garage full of Miller Lite and Schlitz. Freezer had about 12 ice trays and we couldn't touch them. Filled his little styrofoam cooler with 6 when we hit the roads to damn near anywhere. Didn't matter where we where headed, he loaded up. May have not even touched one but By God he had 'em if he got the notion
