I know man.........it is the right thing.
My wife has been saying..........you know its..........but I never let her finish the sentence.

My kids are 18 and 24. My son who is 24 is taking off work to be there.

Its gonna be tough but we will do this all together as a family.
All of my other pups died on their own...........so this is my first "decision" I have had to make.

Damn, mine died two years to the day. It's gut wrenching. My sympathies to you.

It's not something you get over, it's something you get through.

I know I post this in every one of these threads but to me it perfectly describes the the loss of a beloved pet

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.” – Dean Koontz

Leave it to the OT. Guy’s heart is breaking and someone has to go there. lol

I did chuckle though and too the OP let the tears flow it ain't easy letting something that gave nothing but loyalty and love and having to make the call to let her go. Sorry

Sending some love and light your way.

We had to put down our 11 year old cat, Pierre, last week due to cancer in his nasal cavity. When you know it’s time, you know it’s time. Remember you’re doing this because you don’t want them to suffer. It’s the right decision.

It is weird how Christians will twist the word of God to fit and justify their human existence, until you get to animals having a soul and going to Heaven. That is where so many strangely draw the line

A murder or rapist who repents can go to Heaven, but not a loyal sweet puppy who did nothing but love their owner. Sorry Lassie, no Heaven for you.

That is awful. Had a scare with mine this last weekend and I'm afraid we are approaching the same timeline. He's 11 at the youngest. Not sure exactly how old he was when we got him. My best friend for over a decade now. My thoughts are with you.

I missed the part in the Bible where Lassie was created in the image and likeness of God.

An argument can be made that none of us has souls and the concept is a creation of man.

But if humans have souls then dogs goddamn sure as hell do.

The lead up is always the worst to me. Kind of a relief when they pass peacefully with you around. Sucks man.

Do you also believe the Earth is 6,000 years old? If not, you should hop down from your throne, since you would be picking and choosing what part of the bible you choose to believe. Genesis is pretty clear on creation and if you take it word for word, as you are with only humans go to Heaven, then you have to ignore evolution/dinosaurs/space time/etc.

If you do believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. I commend you for your faith.

Edit - I am a firm believer in God and dogs can go to Heaven. I am a heathen.

My dog died in her sleep three years ago. I was glad that we didn't have to put her down, but upset that we never said goodbye to her. Her death was pretty much out of the sky blue.
