Take a look at US News rankings and admissions stats.

These three schools are in three different groups - top 25, top 50, and top 75. Sorry if that offends you

All three are really good. I would say best offer wins.

Rice is about to give free tuition to students whose parents make less than about 150k.

Trying to compete with the Ivy Leagues for the top students. Harvard has been free, or almost free for most families for a long time, the other ivys have similar financial aid.

based just off of test scores and difficulty getting in. but the kid needs to be happy. U of Chicago is a world class institution, for instance, but takes a certain type of kid to go there.

Stanford and Princeton are two other schools that have adopted this “income based tuition cost” and you can make fairly decent money and still qualify.

SMU if it's paid for.

UT if it's not.

Rice is for Asians.

Tulane is in New Orleans.

Rice. Academically, it is vastly superior to the other two. No question. SMU is a glorified country club, and Tulane is a safe place for Yankees who couldn't get into the Ivy's or other respectable state and liberal art universities (e.g. Michigan, Virginia, Amherst, Williams).

Where do y'all come up with this shite?

The working world. I have worked with ivy league engineers in NYC holding the same position... I graduated from a 3rd tier state school.

Either I am extraordinarily good to be working with them or perhaps major matters more than college name.

Good friend of mine went to Tulane for his UG and Rice for his MBA.

He always said he wish he would have went to Rice for his UG.

He hated being one of the very few at Tulane that was from LA

Asian - Rice
low self esteem - Tulane

I've read this entire thread.
Rice is choice of those three.

SMU and Tulane wouldn't be on my radar. If you can get into Rice, why not UT in Austin over SMU and Tulane.
Hell go be an Aggie. A&M is better than SMU and Tulane and save $.

Similar decision here...

She got accepted to SMU and George Washington. Similar financial offers.

Not sure which I'm pulling for, but it's her life. Her decision. But yea, a lotta my money.
