The ONLY appropriate attire for a funeral is black suit or dark navy. Anything else is trashy and disrespectful. fricking heathens.

Just seems odd that you think it's mandatory. The only places were I think it would be appropriate would be clubbing, or a funeral, and I can think of several other types of suits that would be just as appropriate in those instances.
I hope you're not that guy that wears a black suit for business.

I have a khaki/white seersucker suit that I love, but I rarely wear it.

I haven't owned a black suit since I was in 5th grade. Nobody owns black suits except old men and children.
Dark navy or dark grey with appropriate coloring works.

Honestly, because when I think black suit, I think of some guido in a black suit with no tie with a shirt that has too many buttons unbuttoned at some dance club.

This is true. It's such an odd thing, but what is even more odd is for someone to think that owning one is absolutely mandatory.
