San Francisco unanimously passed a resolution this week that decriminalizes plant-based psychedelics like shrooms, ayahuasca, and peyote.

The move follows similar resolutions passed in other jurisdictions, including Oakland; Santa Cruz, California; Denver; and Washington, D.C. In 2020, Oregon became the first state to fully legalize magic mushrooms for the treatment of mental health issues, though facilities where people can access such treatment won’t be up and running until 2023.

Some states, including Connecticut, Washington, Hawaii, and Texas, have set up working groups to study the efficacy of psychedelics as mental health treatments.

You can shite on the sidewalk in front of a cop. Why would you get arrested for shrooms?

Shrooms

Very low on the problem scale for a city that's covered in human shite and looting.

I'll be the first to admit, before I tried them, I had a negative perception of shrooms.

If you've never taken them, or micro-dosed them, you cannot have a true opinion about it.

It should 100% be legal. There's no reason for them not to be.

ETA: I have had them in Chocolate form and Capsule form.

Tons of data out there to support stress, anxiety and depression

I honestly hate the way weed makes me feel. Don't enjoy the high.

I really enjoyed micro-dosing shrooms. It was an incredible clean/fun high and I felt in full control.

I only mainly drink. The other thing I enjoyed is zero hangover!

There are a lot of studies show that micro-dosing mushrooms really help with anxiety, PTSD and depression. It is also supposed to have fewer possible negative effects as other prescription meds.

Meanwhile, stores are closing up shop because it's legal to steal/shoplift in SF. Yay, FREEDOM! We can now get high! Our priorities are finally in order! Woo hoo!

It definitely doesn't crash the head like most other substances, unless you take a bunch at once I guess.

I would honestly love to hear someone's opinion on why the should not be legalized.

I took my first dose two weeks ago and loved it. Nothing super trippy, but I got that super giggly and light feeling that I can't seem to get with weed. All forms just make me tired. I also didn't care about drinking at all which helped me feel better the next day.

Because it's natural, not some man made pharmaceutical.

There’s zero reason for shrooms to be criminalized in any way shape or form. Fungus may be one of the coolest things on this planet.

There’s so many kinds that have so many benefits.

I'm pretty sure crime in general has been decriminalized. Pretty soon SF will be crime free. Hooray!
