Glad you enjoy it. It's a watered down Los Angeles to me. LA has everything SD has, except different theme parks, but much more.

LA sucks

One of the most overrated cities on earth.

My nephew did his SWCC training out there. I went out for his graduation and stayed in a little motel across from the Hotel Del Coronada. We walked across to their outdoor bar every evening after dinner.

That whole island is beautiful. So many nice restaurants and bars you can reach on foot. We watched a parade one night there too.

We ate at some sushi place one night in San Diego and went to the zoo. The only other thing I saw there was the airport.

Would love to go out their with time, go back to the zoo and maybe go to a Chargers or a Padres game.

You people have failed the OT. A thread about San Diego, and no Ron Burgundy memes?!?!

Just for that,

The California beaches are great beaches to visit all the way up to northern Cali. But if you are talking about best sand and best water the Florida beaches are the better.

Destin is tops for sure, spoils you for other beaches. But California scenery and vibe tough to beat. I was very surprised this Summer at how nice the beaches on Martha's Vineyard are. South Beach in a Miami is also strong. Water in Florida Keys is amazing, just no beaches- some nice sand bars.

Watch the sunset at Fort Roscrans National Cemetary. Check out the tidal pools at Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma.. Best sushi at The Joint in Ocean Beach and I still love Point Loma Seafood for their fish sandwiches on sourdough and seafood chowder but eat inside and avoid the pain in the arse gulls.

I go to Del Mar every year for the past 6 years to go see the pacific classic, my favv race of the year. First the place is always packed to the brim with women wearing their sluttiest best, the racing is world class literally and unlike most big braces the PAC classic is at night, not in the day time or at least in the evening. The sun is setting by the time the horses hit the track, and every year I take a deep breath and you can smell the sea salt you are so close to the beach, you can hear the ocean hitting the beach, with the sun setting on the palm trees on a Sunday night, a drink in one hand, a racing form in the other, beautiful women everywhere, there is no better setting in american racing than that 20 minutes the last Sunday in august every year.

comparing anything to san diego is unfair because its the greatest city in America, however I go to LA a ton for work and Im a fan of it.

People always says it sucks compared to San Diego. Well no shite, what doesn't?

LA proper is pretty meh but i really enjoy the coast up to Malibu and the hills and i really like OC. Spend a lot of time on Huntington and Newport Beach and they are both great. Nothing wrong with Laguna too.

An aside. Do you know or recall where that little narrow hole in the wall with steps down to a beach/tidal pool is? It's in La Jolla I think. I anyone knows pleas pipe up or post a link. I want to go back there fairly soon. I can't remember due to age and abuse of body and mind. Shite, I hope I am not imagining the whole thing.

While a chain, Rubio's fish tacos are the best. La Posta No. 7 in Hillcrest is a dump but the best, most authentic Mexican food around. Pacific Beach boardwalks is awesome as is Mission Beach. La Jolla! La Jolla! La Jolla! The children's pool to check out the seals, ocean cave kayaking, snorkeling at the Cove, Prospect Street walking browsing, shopping, George's On the Cove......tons more to do......

I went to Hodads on my last SD trip to see what the hype was about. I wasn't all that impressed. 5 Guys is better, IMO.
