Samsung started rolling out an update to its refrigerators that brought ads to the display, whether you like it or not.
For a fridge you already bought? Well at least the lawyers will make a shite ton of money on the inevitable class action.

You can still buy the exact same model which has not changed much in 25+ years.
The shell hasn't changed much. The internals are much more cheaply made, and they use a different refrigerant. Which just like every time they phase out a refrigerant it sucks more than the previous generation.
Companies are keeping the look of the fridges the same because they want people to think just like you posted - this fridge lasted me 25 years, let me get another one. When in reality its completely different.

This about the dumbest thing I ever saw. Worst than the tv ads at the gas pumps.

Just what I want....to have to watch a 2 minute ad before being able to take some milfs kids juice box after giving her a violent 2 minute weinering....

Samsung is rolling out a new software update to its Family Hub refrigerators in the US
You notice this also only says US. It's because this would be illegal in other countries (like Canada). We really need to pass anti-spam legislation, but congress doesn't care.

Imagine you are just trying to get a glass of water and have to see an ad for local lonely busty milfs.

This is gonna be a hard no, especially if you are buying one moving forward. Give the fridge away for free is the only way.
Its like buying a $3k laptop, and getting ads on it...fricking pisses me off.

Cool. So disconnect it from the Internet.

I have one of those $2900 Samsung refrigerators with the big screen and internal cameras. My wife just had to have it. Only time the screen gets used is when my 5yo niece comes over and uses the white board to draw pictures.
The fridge and ice maker/freezer work excellent. Beers are perfect temp but the shelves inside are pure shite. Really really weak

Why does a fridge need software in the first place?
To break.

I hope I can keep my current fridge alive forever.

Samsung fridges are garbage.
My 20 year old Kenmore's ice maker died about 6 months ago. Repair dude told me do not replace the fridge with a new one. New ones are made to die after a few years, and expensive to fix and parts take a very long time to get.

Who decided we couldn’t look in the fridge without needing screen time ?

“My Samsung Sings Haiku Blues”
Winter kitchen hum,
fridge shows me a car leasing—
I just want my soup.
Spring rain on the glass,
door suggests a dating app—
I seek only eggs.
Summer sun burning,
fridge streams soda commercials,
the ice tastes like ads.
Autumn winds rattle,
leftovers glow with coupons,
pumpkin pie feels cheap.
Year ends in silence,
the fridge updates overnight,
now rent is required.
- yes, AI
