Hopefully it’s just like the gas pumps that can surprise you with a loud ad blasting 3 feet from your head.

no that would have at least made sense. No one was hooked to it and thankfully the kids didn't see. We tried ti figure it out, best we could think is whoever was there before us must have used it to browse something. We turned the damn thing off

I was thinking exactly that. I have gotten to the point of avoiding those gas stations entirely. I can’t stand how loud the volume gets.

I want to stab the folks that make those gas can screens/advertisements, especially when you can't mute them.
I'll just not buy a TV that does it. I know better than to buy a Samsung anyway. They may be great at TVs and phones. But they suck and appliances like refrigerators and washing machines.

Practically no one. But Samsung almost certainly will be burying that "feature" in the fine print on new fridges. The biggest issue is that they're starting ads on fridges that are already in people's homes.
