You can come drink beer with me by Daphne Middle School and listen to generators run if you are sick of silence.

Yes. But a pic of the first cone.......compared to the current/last cone would stir some interesting conversation........

One went from Nola to Cenla...... the other is currently going from Bama to the Carolinas.....all in 4 days.

Not sure who it was that had a place at Sugar Beach like me but was going to bed in prep of going tomorrow and management sent out an email with pics and a video and it’s much worse than we thought. Appears I have lost my air conditioner and roof failure causing leaks. I just loaded up some heavier tools in my truck.

I’m a hair worried, we bought our new unit bc it was a exactly what we wanted and put the old one a studio up for sale, it was to close this Friday. I’m afraid I’ll be stuck with that note and too for a while.

I got outside pics during the day and thought we were gonna be ok....this email from management has me sick. I have to try to sleep so I can head that way early, it could absolutely be worse so trying to stay positive but man I hate seeing this.

That was myself. I have unito 306. I did not receive that email yet so I will have to go look for it. My mother handles bill payments so it is probably in her email.

I was in Mobile. Tree landed right on top of my dogs but somehow didn’t get a scratch on them. I’m in eight mile now. Me and my dad have moved in to my grandmothers house. She’s in a nursing home and the house was vacant, so we’re gonna fix it up and stay here.

It isn't really feasible to have a real time scale that is fully encompassing of all potential impacts. It takes time and response to determine the true impact of any storm.

It’s quite feasible.

It just takes someone with the Ability to model the other factors beside just wind and then start a rating system.

It doesn’t have to replace the safir Simpson but could be an additional measurement. Other parts of the world use different scales so that alone proves it can be done.

I like that Saf Simpson is easy to understand but here we are in 2020 and we ONLY use the same scale that has been used for decades. Saf simp measures one minute of wind. Why not 2 or 3 or 4 ... or 10? So even this simplistic scale could be altered.

It’s not impossible to create another scale. It’s quite possible.
I could throw in Just rain, longer sustained winds, and storm size and create something different.
Heck... I just might do that.

I would say what they could do is a color-coded rainbow cone but there is already a tropical storm/hurricane wind probability map they put out that displays this information based on the probabilities of each intensity.

Maybe the National Hurricane center should ditch its static image cone maps that they have used since the early 2000s and just focus on its interactive maps and display click points of data and short text forecasts explaining the details at that point.

Most of these data sets are already sent or interpolated by the major TV Weather map providers, but it is not readily available on the NHC website.

We got surge in LCH from Sally, just saying.

Thought I was the only one that noticed that. Drove by Prien Lake yesterday and was surprised at how the water was up the banks

Any word on the guy who was in the pic sitting on a bridge support cement column?? His boat had capsized — was posted several times.

The photo means someone knew he was there — hopefully who ever took the photo was able to direct help to him.

I know you aren’t the poster who asked about Sandestin, but they posted that they had minimal damage and are back to normal hours and operations for most of their stores/restaurants today.

I saw somewhere that he was rescued by kayak and taken to a hospital. The sheriffs office had gone out there but couldn’t locate him. If that’s true, that kayaker deserves a Medal of Honor
