Great gif. I hate to say this but I believe NOAA always errs on the side of warning NOLA has tropical systems head for the central Gulf. All major cities probably get the same forecast treatment from the weathermen. It's a risk assessment thing, I guess.

I assume because it's the hardest place to evacuate. You can get out of Gulfport or Mobile on shorter notice.

Right. AL was included in the first come like someone said, but removed for a while and the cone shifted back to AL.

Im not gonna be one to shite on these forecasters. They have a tough job. But this on was kind of weird. Calling for NOLA early on, only to shift east all the way to AL/FL border. Then, she sits out there and looks to be breaking up or weakening most of yesterday only to strengthen a good deal right before and as she comes ashore...Just a weird storm that did catch some off guard.

Not necessarily the NHC's fault as all the advisories they put out basically said they weren't really sure and to stay vigilant.

Just got a call from my dad on the neighbors phone - they don't have cell service so tell your neighbor not to worry too much. Same report as last time - lots of wind and landscape damage but the house was fine and no major flooding problems. They live in a subdivision right next Lakewood.

Thanks, I will let them know.

I believe they live directly on 98 south of Lakewood. He wasn’t worried about water as the home is high. More worried about trees and then being stranded.

While this is really good news, I was hoping they were going to use military ordnance on it.

Trying to upload pics of my yard and truck. Just drove all around Daphne. The worst damage is at my house. 2 miles east of 181 on 90 looks like tornadoes came through. Tons and tons of damage and trees down

One of the biggest trees in my yard was a 100+ year old magnolia. Well the top half snapped and landed right in my truck bed. Probably a few thousand pounds of tree.

Many don't understand how they get it & it's purpose. They want perfect accuracy even when understanding that the predicted path changes and why.

Others just want to argue or troll.
