I’m looking across the landscape from Phoenix V and don’t see the Ferris wheel at the Wharf. Assume it blew over?

This unfortunately just serves as a reminder that New Orleans is on borrowed time. It's just a matter of when.

I wouldn't be surprised.

Parents emptied a rain gauge yesterday in Foley, this morning it read 22 inches.

I doubt that but I could be wrong and I’m not looking at what you are. It’s not lit up though and with the conditions I bet it’s probably just hard to pick out.

I think a ton of houses are gonna have water damage they dont recognize for days after

20-30” of wind driven rain can sneak under even a good roof

When Laura was headed possibly towards us my mom kept saying "but your beautiful home" and I was like "I'm gonna pack the photo albums and baby blankets and heirloom dresses". Who cares about the rest???

Hope they can get in soon.

It's funny that folks are furiously downvoting what is actually an instructive illustration of how people should generally approach and understand these things.

It's weird that it makes people mad.

Composite lumber is a better long-term solution than just wood planks.

Always stay in the neighborhood next to this. The waves were up on the dunes and so strong they’d knock you down for the tropical storm back in June.

But I’m sure they fixed the levees after the last debacle...right?

Huh?

New Orleans experienced an absolute disaster only 14 years ago. They havent exactly borrowed too much time

30” of rain in NOLA with a mild storm surge would be worse than Katrina

Im not arguing that, but considering the entire city was devestated and basically closed for business for months only 14 years ago, I wouldnt say they are on borrowed time

Not joking here, what kind of rain gauge holds that much? I assume it’s electric with sensors and just dumps itself?

How quickly is this going to de-intensify? Track looks to go right over my house in Auburn. I don't normal follow these threads closely here in Auburn since we are normally out of harms way but I remember Opal coming through here and wrecking shite this far inland.
