Gulf Shores this morning. Hopefully the water didn’t get all the way to the road.

My problem with TWC “meteorologists” is that they always act like this is the first hurricane they, or the general public, are witnessing. They over dramatize and talk down to their viewers.

NHC probably needs to reconsider the cone size for relative storm confidence. Sally’s would have been bigger than it was in that case. That being said, they issue watches and warnings regardless of the cone, and clearly people don’t pay attention.

Yeah, now I assume water was beginning to subside at that point, so I don’t know if it was higher than that picture at some point.

I'm with you on that.

Roof damage seems to go up exponentially along with category starting with Cat 3.

OB was on the relatively good side of the eye for surge. Dunes to the east of OB are probably a little different story.

Yea just make the cone bigger to avoid moving it. The fact that the cone moves gives the impression that they are readjusting while just shrinking the cone makes it seems like they are honing in. End result is the same and the dumbasses can’t claim they were taken by surprise.

I don’t think GS got the storm surge like PC is. GS went right down the middle of the eyeball and got East to west wind vs south to north pushing it in.

Water is 5.5 feet above normal tide and the astronomical tide has about another half a foot rise to go before high tide.

Gulf Shores mayor on TWC says the surge damage doesn’t appear as bad as previous storms, but the impacts of the rain are really bad.

We have a place down on Ft Pickens road. Do you know if water breached the dunes? What is the ground level looking like around Portofino?

Be safe out there, please post as many pics as you can!

Both cities should’ve called for mandatory evacuation.

It’s bad.

Hopefully lives were spared.
