Lake was really professional here. The videos make it look pretty convincing that Salamoni was the cause for the struggle.

Yup.
Guys like that should infuriate everyone. They put good cops at risk by creating volatile situations (both in the moment and with others down the line as stories spread).

Does anyone on this post know Blane or Lake? What were both like in the community?

Did they give a reason for him to be suspended? I really didn't see anything done wrong by him.

Family member is good friends with Lake
Says he’s a good dude

Yeah I don't know. Watch the surveillance video. He picks it up and puts it on the car hood/windshield initially.
I think I would have left it as is though, or at least moved it out of reach of Sterling
It also would have justified Salamoni's actions.

Salamoni escalated the situation, this could have been handled better and we wouldn’t be here right now

No they didn't. The suspension is 3 days though.

Salmoneli sounds like a fricking thug. He may be from Brookstown.

No kidding. Why is Lake even being suspended? Dude should be put back on the force tonight and be giving any back-pay he deserves (i am assuming he was making 60 to 75 percent eh?)

I just keep going back to the moment when Salamoni went in for the tackle. At that moment, Sterling was standing with his hands out to the side and the cops were at a safe distance and drawn on him. He was contained even though still not being compliant.
They could have held him there waiting for back up and shot him if he went for his pocket or charged them in the meantime.
Salamoni going in for the tackle was unnecessary and caused the whole thing.

what agency will hire Salamoni next?

I have to pretty much agree on this.

I’ll accept this. However I just heard a SU law professor on WBRZ say Sterling was resisting bc he thought he was being treated unfairly. That’s BS. He was resisting bc he’s done it before, he was on shite and he knew he was about to go back to jail bc of what was in his pocket.

You have to secure his hands in order to disarm him
Or have him keep his hands on the hood like he was told
He wouldn’t comply
You really don't need hands to secure someone. Salamoni could have easily stood 5 ft away, gun on and had Lake disarm Sterling. They both knew they were showing up to a call for a man with a gun.
Salamoni got riled up and decided to be aggressive in forcing police action.

He ran up on Sterling with a gun pointed to his head and said he'd execute him if he didn't comply. I don't know what is professional or safe about that.

To everyone talking about adrenaline affecting different people differently: the same argument could be made for Sterling.
Some roid raging meathead in a costume jumps out of a car and threatens to shoot you in the head - you can't expect someone to just be okay with that.
Salamoni was the instigator here, and he's lucky he was only fired.

Mr. Salamoni needs to sue the City, BRPD, Civil Service...and get very wealthy from killing that thug.
