I'll ask you since Scoop won't respond to this. So you think if he would have complied from the very beginning and kept his hands on that car, so they could properly search for the reported firearm, that Salamoni still would have tackled and shot him?

I really wanted to hear your response so I asked again.

You realize that Lake had already put his hands on Sterling's arm and Sterling was resisting right?

So no, I don't think that Salamoni grabbing Sterling escalated the situation. The situation was already escalated. Sterling had already made the decision he wasn't going in easy and they were going to have to force him to be arrested.

I'd like someone to explain to me, what Sterling did to de escalate the situation? What did Sterling do that makes anyone think he wasn't going to be required to be tackled and arrested against his will?

Because I didn't see Sterling do a single thing to de escalate.

It's like Bodhi said in Point Break:

It's basic dog psychology, if you scare them and get them peeing down their leg, they submit. But if you project weakness, that promotes violence, and that's how people get hurt.

Honest question: did we ever confirm that happened? I know there was a 911 call but I genuinely don’t remember if it was ever confirmed

Unless there was another guy in front of the store selling CD’s in a red shirt.

Honestly.....I see where you’re going and you have a valid point.

My main point was that Alton’s life choices led him to where he was that night. Your choices have consequences......and unfortunately for Mr. Sterling they were grave consequences.

Alton was a convicted felon out brandishing a weapon. BS wasn’t just riding around each evening gunning down black folks with no cause.

All the sympathizers in thread act like the whole thing started when BS arrived and that’s not the case. BS was dispatched.......I would almost assuredly say there are a million other places he would have rather been.

You have no idea what you are talking about. These officers responded to a call of a man armed with a gun who pulled it on someone. When they arrived , they observed the suspect and a large crowd around him. At that point they have two choices : 1) approach him and encounter him ; or 2) lay back and take cover. The problem with two is that it puts the crowd between LEO and the armed suspect. They make the correct decision to engage AS. They do so, initially , in a very polite and appropriate manner with Lake putting AS in empty hand escort position and polities asking hike to put his hands on the car. AS jerks his hand (remember the call is that he is armed ) out of soft empty hand and he won officers have another choice : 1) knowing that he did not comply to politeness and he is in a crowd to overwhelm him; or 2) back off knowing he is in a crowd. At this point it’s clearky a judgment call. I suggest that anyone who says that they should have backed off does so presuming that AS would have complied. The problem is that HE DID NOT comply when he had the initial chance to do so with both politeness and soft empty hand. Why would anyone think he would comply if they backed off further.

You're saying that Salamoni didnt escalate, but when you explain what he did wrong, you are clearly contradicting yourself.

I don't think anyone is defending Sterling's actions.

Now it's obvious you're trolling. Michael's post was more thought out and accurate than anything I've read so far. And that's your response? He's nuts?

You need to call it a night.

If we were black people, our thoughts on watching that video would be “why the frick didn’t they just leave him alone? Why those cops got to roll up there and cause all that shite in the first place?”

And we’d kind of have a point.
