No. That would be an iceberg. Glaciers are on land. They can calve into the sea if they end at water.

And no one ever mentions that ice is also made up of air, that's why icebergs float.

When they are proven wrong in 5 years, can we beat the living shite out of them as an example to other fearmongers?

Icebergs are in the water. Glaciers are on land.

A glacier the size of Florida is enough to raise sea levels 2 feet?

I think they’re speaking in 2 dimensions. Doesn’t speak to how deep it is

And I might be wrong, but I think the glacier is sitting at least partially on land, not floating like an iceberg

If the glacier extends into the air would you not be measuring the water in terms of volume instead of area?

Or the ice in terms of displacement

And by real change I mean getting rid of Houma.

Why all the hate?

Houma was the 2nd happiest city in America, just behind Lafayette, La. in 2014.

Yes. Do the math on how high it would have to be to get the volume required to raise sea level 2 feet over 139,000,000 square miles when it has a surface area of 66,000 sq. miles.

Yeah, their numbers are bullshite.

Ok so from a birds-eye view, the surface area is that of Florida. Now how thick/deep do you think it is? 1 inch? 100 ft? Don’t you think that might be important in crunching your numbers?

Fill cup with ice, top off w water.

Let melt - cup does not overflow.

Weird

That would be true if Antartica was just a bunch of glaciers floating on the water, except it's not. It's a landmass with the glaciers on it.

Using your example, add a bunch more ice to the glass and it overflows.

Shouldn't live only two feet above sea level. Maybe five feet?

Funny thing is that melting glaciers cool ocean currents and bring about ice ages. The earth has repeated this process several times that we know

4,212 ft.

It’s all bs.
