I would run it if u can keep the side door and garage door open. Or set up some kind of way for it to vent. But even then I would hold my breath and kill generator and run out of garage till the levels go down. I don't like walking in a awning with generator running and refueling. Just kill it and wait a few minutes with fan or windows open.
Carbon monoxide is extremely bad for you and when u breath it in the part of your lunges that absorbed it will not be able to absorb oxygen until your body gets it out, and I takes your body about half a day to get half of it out al.ost a full day to get all of it out.
But I would definitely use my garage to run my generator just be smart about it. Maybe even wait till the worst has passed so I'm comfortable leaving the doors open.

You need ventilation for a generator. Open space.

Hey baw, y'all at y'all's house? We are staying put, Hollar if you need anything

Should leave a crack in your garage door anyway. Let the wind have an outlet. Reduces pressure on the door

I don’t think so. I recall a case of a fire when fumes ignited from a portable generator that was outside but too close the eave of the house.

Don’t, besides the CO danger, the garage even if not connected to your house is probably close enough to put your house in danger should the garage catch on fire, When using and refueling small generators, fuel leaks, spills, and fires are a real risk.

You do you, but, if you don't ventilate it you'll have a much worse time than if you did.

inside the garage you will be in danger unless you have a scuba tank or a portable oxygen gadget.
also you would need the generator to be intaking oxygen. after a few hours the air would not support burning the fuel.
open the side door a few inches. & Crack main door up a few inches.

If it’s well ventilated, and you pipe the exhaust outside, yes, but your garage is almost certainly not well ventilated.

quote:enclosed absolutely not. if you can open several windows or doors then maybe. if you're looking for 100% assurance, then no. an animal or child or grown up could get in there and suffocate. It's not an unreasonable question bc you do need to protect your generator to some degree, particularly the air intake and exhaust.
enclosed space?

Pretty sure this is not correct

Not unless you can leave windows open or vent it some other way.

Meh. I have run my generator in my detached garage for the past 10 years.
I leave the garage door and the back door open and it vents the CO gas.
You are fine as long as you don't shut it up where it can't vent.

It’s fine to run in the rain but it won’t run under water change the oil 50-80 hours
Posted on 8/29/21 at 1:41 pm to haikarate
Not a good idea. If someone tries to break in garage and steal your generator it could kill them.

Rain won't hurt your generator. Just keep the cord off the ground if possible.
